Carried at Bergorf Goodman. Reminds me of Brunello Cuccinelli; but, with a British (obviously) influence.

They had interesting solid-colored linen ties at the Bergdorf sale, but the ones there had rips, or were just too dirty.

It's a British luxury lifestyle brand [EDIT: gagging as I write that expression] started as a bit of a vanity project by an aristocratic family (which also sells organic food). Most of the stuff is made in Italy. It's pretty nice.

They have a multilevel shop in Sloane Square, London.

Not an aristocratic family at all. They own a company that makes construction equipment and tractors (imagine a British John Deere or Caterpillar) - the company was founded in a shed by the father of the current owner.

But Bamford is the name of a British aristocratic family, too.

Holt Renfrew in Vancouver started carrying them this year. I was told they were a "super wealthly" family who went into the clothing business to ensure they had high end clothing that met their standards. The salesman proceeded to show me a $1,200 cashmere sweater that was made in China. His argument was that this was the best possible cashmere because if it were made in Italy it would have to cost twice as much due to higher labour costs! Needless to say, I did not subscribe to his logic.

Thread revival.

I recently picked up a pair of Bamford & Sons pants. Made in Italy of a Loro Piano 90% wool and 10% cashmere fabric, which is quite nice. Construction seems very solid. I'm favorably impressed. Any idea of the maker? The only real identifying mark appeared to be very noticable (i.e. dark thread on light fabric) hand stictching on the fabric of the waistband. I feel like I've seen this before, but I can't recall where.

Yeah the shop is ok. Pricing is adventurous to say the least and they are best visited in sale time. They do carry some nice pieces from time to time though and the quality is ok. THe store in Sloane Sq has some nice oddities too and a good selection of intersting vintage watches that are for sale.

The logic doesn't sound as off to me. I believe the majority of cashmere in the world comes from China. I was told this by the woman who owns the Chianti Cashmere company, which is apparently the only farm in Italy that raises cashmere goats. This came as a surprise to me, but the manager of the Loro Piana store in Rome also stated that their cashmere also comes from China, but is woven in Italy. Maybe the weaving makes a huge difference, I really don't know.
