I'll be traveling to Frederick, MD in early August. I'd like to leave a few days early to engage a city I've yet to visit. Baltimore and D.C. are close. Which should I choose?

D.C. gets points off the bat because I think I have an acquaintance there that could offer a couch for free.

If you've never been to DC, go there. Just about every type of museum you can think of (most free) plus
the Capitol, the White House and the National Mall monuments/memorials.

Baltimore has the inner harbor, aquarium and some good Italian restaurants.

DC it is. Are there any good threads about things to do once I'm there? Nevermind. Found them.

Unless you are a heroin addict or seeking a venereal infection, I am not sure why you would even consider Baltimore. DC is a great place. A lot more expensive and big city than B-More, but also a lot more stuff to do, better energy, etc...

DC, without question, that is unless you're planning to visit with Stitch in Baltimore.

If you're already in Frederick, check out Volt, Bryan Voltaggio's restaurant.

I love Baltimore, but I would say DC is your best option.

DC is definitely more tourist friendly with all the museums, monuments, and history. Baltimore has a charm that you don't fully understand unless you live there. There are cool spots, but definitely not the Inner Harbor or other tourist traps.
