Balmoral vs Blucher shoes for business casual?

Emphasis for my firm is strongly on the business part. Sometimes folks would wear tie, other times no tie, but always with nice dress pants and business appropriate dress shirts. In such work environment, should I get balmoral or blucher shoes?

Blucher/Derby for jeans, chino's, trousers, sport coat, blazer

Balmoral/Oxford for suits

almost no one will notice a difference. far more important to have good quality and keep them clean and polished for business. also dark brown and black. lighter colors are not conservative business dress

Only big shots or jerks wear suits at my firm. Normal people at my age and level usually wear dress pants, dress shirt, and maybe a tie.

99% of the population doesn't know the difference b/w open and closed lacing.
No one cares, or even knows.

This is probably the only thing I'll ever agree with Xiaogou on.

Although, I guess you really could get away with some captoes, etc. with wool trousers. That would look just fine too.

A balmoral dress shoe can never be mistaken for casual, business or not.
That said, as long as you aren't sitting with legs crossed for anyone to actually see the shoes under closer scrutiny, you can easily wear a blucher as the pant cuff will cover it sufficiently.
A person with a higher instep may also prefer a blucher for comfort and damn the 'rules'.
Chances are, no one will care or even notice, unless they know shoes and are in any position to bother you about it.

IMO balmorals look pretty classy and might make you look a little more business-like.

But... better options are available on bals, IMO.

I would go with a bal over a blucher. But that's just me.

Seems like a good reason to buy multiple pairs of new shoes. You need them.

well, I would describe them as "expensive brand mall hopping" consumers but very competent professionals...

...for the lone person who picked my C&J, I asked her in jest "is it because annual reviews is just around the corner? " she reports to me btw...

and to paraphrase "in case you didn't know, I worked as an SA @ Saks during college...I knew those are English made"

+1 on her annual review....

and for the KC wearing baller, soon after he learned more about C&G (and AE, Aldens etc) , he immediately went into KC and CH detox....I should introduce him to SF......
