Being that these are lighter in color, would you wear these with odd trousers/jackets?

I'm tempted to order this exact pair of boots but I rarely wear suits. I'm most often in odd trousers in cotton or linen in the summer and tweed/flannel in the winter.

I would certainly wear Edwardian boots in the summer with linen, but don't think they'll work well in the winter when the color of the tweed / wool will be much darker.

When precisely does one wear a pair of boots like these? For what occasions?

based on the amount of wear in this thread, i'd say never

I plan to wear them with jeans, for instance.

ET - I'm not trying to pick a fight, but are you serious? Boots in NYC in the summer?

Yep - I'm loco! Seriously though, I have no trouble wearing bal boots in the spring / summer - I always get them unlined / very lightly lined anyway.

Unless I have a meeting or an event I plan on wearing these this summer w/cotton pants and polo or linen shirts. If anyone has anything to say too bad!

    Just arrived today!
If the nice folks at EG ever decide to create a Gherkins model, this shoe would get my vote!

I'm not opposed to wearing high boots in the summer but to me they seem incongruous with a light weight fabric such as linen.

I didn't order them with that in mind, but who knows. Three years ago, I had no thought of ordering dress boots.
