I love Chelsea boots with a suit, although the trousers have to be drainpipe, and the shoes sleek.

    Very '60s.

I'm having a pair of chelseas made. Do you have a picture of what you consider "sleek"?

I am just surprised you wear something as casual as a lounge suit. You might as well wear a string bikini. [IMG]
Accessories should be a bowler hat and umbrella: [IMG] Bikini? I don't see a bikini here - not even on Mrs Peel, let alone on Steed, who was well known for wearing Chelseas with his loungers.

The Crockett & Jones Paris Cowdray is rather sleek:

Also these Pierre Corthay boots which aren't strictly Chelsea:

Mine will have a high cuban heel. More like the Beatle boot era of Chelseas.

Don't forget RM Williams wholecuts in my Forum Special configuration:

On the left is the version with brass screwed leather soles and on the right with a Goodyear welt. The EG Chelsea is sadly not a wholecut (note the seam on the side underneath the elastic side gusset).

Sort of similar to Dior Homme's Cuban Heels? [IMG] [IMG] Beatle Boots: [IMG] I've never liked the stitching of the original Beatle boots though.

I agree with you and Matt. However, if these boots were not bals, they would look even more like military combat boots. All combat boots I have seen or worn were blucher type, the bal styling on these really helps give them a more dressy look.

This is true, although I do think the high toe box and the broad profile of the toe seen from above gives these, in that one pic, a more combat-boot appearance than I would have preferred. A sleeker, more tapered toe area would have gone a long way toward making these look more like shoes from the ankle down. The shape of the toe box is enough to make me ambivalent about them. I'd like to see more pics though.

I have seen, tried, and have a pair Robert last shoes on order. The toebox is not near as high, or angular as the LL balmoral boot pictured.

Where on earth do those C&Js come from? Is that some discontinued model or something made for the Paris store???? They certainly aren't found in their last catalogue listing (unless there is a newer one...)

They were probably ordered by some merchant (possibly in Japan).

The catalogue lists the styles C&J has "in stock", for immediate delivery. If you as a dealer or designer want to order something different (and are willing to commit to the required minimum), C&J will produce for you, whatever you request.

I don't care for the Dior Homme's Cuban Heels. Not an elegant look.

These are perfection. Too bad one needs to pay double the price of C$J to get it.

It seems to be available at C&J Paris so you could probably ask the Royal Exchange (London) shop to order it for you.
