Just a question.. How does the Scribe line from Bally compare against the John Lobbs and the Edward Greens? Thanks!

Overpriced, IMO. Not up to JL or EG standards. I'd put the Scribe line on a similar quality tier with top-of-the-line C&J. Maybe a tiny bit higher. Definitely not in the same punching class as the shoes it competes with in price.

Definitely a good shoe, but if you're going to pay full retail or close to it, there are better options.

I'm an unapologetic Vass bandwagoneer, btw, so I'll address the elephant in the room right now.

AB, i wholeheartedly disagree; i wanted to bring this topic up recently as i visited my local Bally and the Scribe line has gotten alot better in quality. almost too good for its price of 795. the lasts are sleeker (imo actually comparable to JL's lasts, matter of taste still, but before it was a clunky design), the soles are much nicer, (double sole ones were completely amazing) but the leathers are the same , but still with the better design/lasts and the sturdier soles these shoes look like a good deal compared to the JLs (and admittedly EGs as they arent 850 anymore)

i was really tempted to buy the black wingtip model. im very finicky when it comes to shoes and i rarely find anything that moves me, and i was thoroughly impressed with the scribes.

Fair enough. My last Scribe purchase/experience was from a few years back. Entirely possible they've revamped standards and design since then.

I was quite blown away by the quality and design of the latest Bally Scribes as well... Amazing stuff I should say... Check this out http://www.bally.com/navigation.asp?.../U/season/main
