I'm looking for a simple, good quality, single gusset, top zip bag, for under $300. I would be using it every day to carry work papers and personal materials, but mostly for personal items. It should be versatile enough to carry while wearing casual, business casual, or business dress.
This is probably asking for a lot, but my budget has been limited.
I've been looking at Jack Georges bags, e.g. the Platinum Single Gusset Top Zip. eBay hasn't been very reliable.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

I recently picked this up:

Filson 257

I like it a lot. I used to carry a messanger type bag for work and another bag for school...and now I can carry everything in this one bag, including my macbook.

Actually its this one that I got. i wanted to link the cranes' store since they are an affiliate:

The second link pictures a Filson 258, which is the next size up from the 257.

Go Filson, true canvas and look great.

I do not own one, but nearly purchased one a few months ago, but instead went with an all leather version. In my experience, they are a little stiff but I am sure they break in some with wear.

I also just bought a Filson 257, and I absolutely love it. It's rugged but not too rugged, and it seems to transition well from very casual to slightly dressy, but perhaps not business formal. It's also surprisingly capacious, which is perfect for hauling my law books to and fro.

I wouldn't carry that bag while wearing a suit.

This photo has been posted here before, but I think he pulls it off. Admittedly not quite a suit.
