Hello

I am after a bag (backpack) my only conditions are that it is not excessively branded and that it is made in a western country. Have any ideas?

Thanks,
Cantona

Good luck finding one.

And what is "western country?"

Would Romania qualify or do you just have something against the Asians?

Hahaha no nothing against asians. In fact I would count some asian countries as western countries (not geographically of course), the likes of Japan springs to mind. The reason I like to only purhcase western products is to support the Western wage. I also believe it helps keep traditional ownership of small companies and the quality of a western made product is superior to something made in say a sweat shop.

Romania would certainly not be my first choice however I would choose something made in Romania compared to say China, Thailand etc.

Any product suggestions?

Thanks,
Cantona

Military backpacks - made in the Western world, without any brand tags and probably the quality you're looking for.

Jack Spade makes a nice canvas backpack that is relatively plain and label free

You should look at: Filson (bags still made in US last time I checked), Ghurka (made in US and Italy as of last check), www.chapmanbags.com (canvas and leather bags made in UK), www.bradybags.co.uk (another maker of canvas and leather bags, also made in UK)

A couple of other options, Redoxx is made in Montana. They're not label-free (or cheap), but they're absolutely awesome, top quality stuff and the branding isn't obnoxious.

If you're not opposed to leather, Custom Hide is also American made and they'll modify any of their designs for you, I have one of their briefcases that I like a great deal.
