Hi,I've started doing night courses, and using a backpack but it feels a little juvinile to be using one as an adult. I see there's some nice leather backpack options but theses are in the 500-1000 range which i think is a bit much. Is there something in the middle?

Barbour does a range of backpacks in a mixture of heavyweight canvas and waxed leather. They are more stylish than juvenile, reasonably priced and good quality. Have a look at the Houghton, the Carlton or the Beaufort.

So much depends on your commute. Backpacks are functional when you're doing a lot of walking. If the walking you're doing is simply 50 yards of walking from car to class and back then it's easier to trade function for style. Similarly, a messenger bag is easy to sling forward if you're taking public transportation vs. backpack. And, a lot also depends on how much you need organizational compartments for the materials you're bringing to/from class.
You want to make sure the bag meets functional needs before style - so, for example are you taking a laptop with you? Does it have it's own padded cover or do you need the bag to supply that? Do you need quick compartments for headphones/earbuds, etc. So, start with:
  1. What materials you need to carry
  2. How much organization and types of compartments you need
  3. How often and how long you need to carry it
Then you can consider different stylistic approaches that meet your requirements.
For example, I have a fantastic leather briefcase from Saddleback. It's rugged, built like a tank and fits my style. BUT, there's no quick access, no padding and it weighs a good amount by itself - and even with a strap I wouldn't use it if I were walking a tremendous amount. But for going from car to office and back and the occasional flight I prefer the style. If I were using public transportation I'd probably want something different so I had better access to headphones and a book or whatever. It would also look odd if I were carrying it wearing shorts and flip flops (sorry, but that's standard summer wear for me) So, even when considering style make sure the style you choose will match how you plan on dressing for the classes to.

For sure u can find a good variant for a cheaper price. Depends on leather and a brand. There are many young designers/brands on the market. I attached a photo like a sample, I bought this bag for a friend, he was satisfied. And price only 200$

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
