Backpacking in 2 weeks (For 2 weeks), should I go to Naples

Gents,

I'll be backpacking in Europe very soon, I'm still contemplating whether I should visit Naples (via Barcelona) for 2-3 days, with the main purpose of potentially buying Neapolitan menswear products. As I'll be backpacking I'll be limited to shirts and ties mostly. Is it worth making the trip? I live in HK so I can buy most brands, my intention to visit naples is for a lower price point and more variety. Thoughts? Should I just continue on to France straight away?

I'm going to say no. There are probably nicer cities for you to spend more time in. 2-3 days is quite a large chunk of such a short trip. Much better to take your time in other cities.

It's not an ugly city by any measure(I think the garbage got moving again?), but you'll probably be visiting other cities where you will be able to visit more sights etc.

Actually if Foo and his wife can wander in Napoli, I dont see what's the danger there.

Although I've been there and it looks kind of unsafe, looking back, its no different than NYC full of people at all hours of the day. Not to say Napoli is full of Mafioso hanging around casing the next tourist to rob and gut.
