What salicylic acid product did you use? Many have the wrong Ph level, which negates the effectiveness. Neutrogena has a good one called 3-in-1 Acne Stress Control.

Either way, if it's a persistent problem, you might just want to ask a dermatologist. In the meantime, make sure you're using a non-abrasive gentle cleanser without any irritants (fragrant oils, alcohol, amonium lauryl sulfate).

Pray that it isn't a prelude to the dreaded back hair.

Stop taking multivitamins (potassium iodide is making it worse).

If you are using steriods, stop. but if you don't happen to be a professional ball player, some UV rays might help to clear that Bacne up.

There's Hibiclens (sp?) That's what my doctor recommended. I'm taking doxycycline, doing a 10% benzoyl peroxide soap and the Hibiclens, and the problem still hasn't gone away, but it is at least down maybe 80% in the last 2-3 months.
