B/S Recommendation to the Mods

Seeing how the past year there has been tons of B/S activity and that threads started early in the day are easily kicked back a couple of pages within a matter of a few hours, limiting the exposure of the earlier threads, I was wondering if instituting a "listing day," would be helpful to everyone. For example, people can only add new listings or update his listing with new items on Monday or Monday and Friday. Then for the week and weekend, the main activity will focus on the those threads.

Thoughts?

Maybe the B&S forum just needs subforums...Not too many, but perhaps 2-3?

Aren't the buyers looking beyond the first page and/or searching by "new posts"? I don't think it's a huge problem that listings get moved down. It's a result of there being a lot of great stuff for sale here. It would be good if we all tried to consolidate our listings as much as possible, I guess.

The listing day idea seems unnecessarily complicated.

The current forum and rules works fine, don't break it.

I think you should just man up and use the B&S forum like everyone else

. This includes, but is not limited to, skimming thread titles, reading the first few paragraphs that pop up when scrolling mouse pointer over a topic, perusing the search button, subscribing to every thread started by edmorel or singlechange etc.

That being said, an option to have, say, 50 threads displayed on one page would be useful though.

This idea was shot down a while ago. Which I don't necessarily disagree with.

But there is also a lot of crap for sale. Some people use B/S as if it's a garage sale just to get rid of random, not so great stuff. I think it does a disservice to the actually great things offered here. For example, even your threads get pushed way the hell back, and I'm not inclined to go back 3-4 pages. Meaning, I have to be a daily visitor to figure out what's new.

I guess using the Search Function is a way around it, but to be honest, I never thought of doing it, and probably won't.

Myself I find the search is great for jumping to exactly what I'm after right from the get-go within the B/S.

Works fine now.

I can always find the new or updated threads.

Sub B&S forums are less useful when one is selling different kinds of stuff at once; why make us choose?

I think this is a great bazaar.

Try the "New Posts" feature. It will display all new posts since your last visit.

As SF grows, there's only going to be more sales threads. It's a tough issue. But I'll note that the vast majority of my sales take place when the thread is on the first page, and often within the first few hours of the listing. Of the hundreds of items I've offered here, I think I've sold only one or two -- no more than a handful, at least -- after the thread went dormant.

Ditto.

I think B&S works pretty well, and I think it's one thing that really sets SF apart. And without it, I'd have no clothes.

I'm pretty sure there is an option, but it might go up to 40 threads/page (user cp>options).

I'm not very computer-smart, though, so this might be something different.

I think it works. I must admit I have become a bit of a addict to the forum and this section so I look fairly often through the day depending upon how work is going. It's hard to say if sub-forums would work all that well as its nice to have the mix up of different items from different sellers.

What would be even more handy then anything else is finding some way to block spammers who push good threads down with thier useless gift cards and "free" items. http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/perso....ap/index.html
