Any experience with these? www.avirex.it The jackets are in quite muted, workable colours and the material suggests they'd be good for the cooler months and wet weather. I'd be interested to hear of any owners' feedback. edit: Sorry. The link takes you to a site which has different products to those which I saw advertised in an Italian publication. Avirex TKG seem to produce light, strong, waterproof and breathable yet stylish clothes, not the fashion stuff through the link.

Avirex seems to make real nice stuff outside of the US. In the US, it's all amongst the likes of FUBU and PhatFarm.

Yes. It's strange that the website given in the print ad (above) takes you to a site selling completely different stuff. Unless I missed the link. But the 'Europe' link (for Italian market, presumably?) takes you to the stuff which they are not even advertising ... Any re-direction welcomed.

Years ago, Avirex made quality flight jackets and clothign to US Military specs. However, at some point, least in their US clothing they beagn to market loud, ugly, 'urban' garbage.

I happen to own a replica Irvin jacket made by Avirex in 1978.

While poking around online, I just came across the following information, and it reminded me of this thread:

January 2006 - The Avirex brand has been acquired by Marc Ecko Enterprises (MEE), which will design, manufacture and distribute sportswear and nonleather outerwear under the Avirex brand name, with emphasis on the youth and urban market. Military apparel formerly sold under the Avirex brand will now be sold under The CockpitÂ

brand. The CockpitÂ

is owned and operated by the former owners of Avirex, but is a separate line that is not associated with the Avirex brand owned by MEE. All current Avirex-branded flight jackets have been discontinued, although many of them will crossover to The CockpitÂ

brand.

Yeah, I always associated Avirex with the big logoed leather jackets that DMX and the Ruff Ryders kinda guys like to wear...

But I guess if what nastyandy said is true that makes sense.

I really like that short duffle coat too. Does anyone know if the Avirex store in NYC carries that item? Or is that available only outside of the states?

I'm not sure, check with Cockpit, the new brand founded by the original founders of Avirex (who designed their military clothing). . .according to a press release that I read today, they "recently opened a flagship store, north of Houston on Broadway, in Manhattan" . From those directions, it must be somewhere in Soho, but I've never seen nor heard of it until now.

SoHo=south of houston. The avirex store is sort of ridiculous from the outside. I've never been in.

I'm all but certain you will only find their wiggerwear stuff in America no matter where you look. Don't waste your time. If you want it, order it from Super Rag.

Cool, thanks. If anyone finds the exact building number they're in be sure to post it. I hate walking around looking for a store when I'm in the general area but don't know exactly where it is.
