Hey

How long after you change residential address until you must notify your automobile insurance company?

Thanks for all responses

The laws might be different for different states. Your local DMV or PA car insurance company would be the best place to get information from.

its actually a complex answer, starting with never and ending with immediately. You should notifiy them immediately. If your car gets damaged, stolen, etc.. at the new address (say you moved from a cushy suburb to south philly) and the insurance adjusted figure out you 'live there', tehnically the policy could be voided, since a higher risk area could theoretically have a higher premium or even be in an area they wont insure. There are of course exceptions to this if your in college, but generally speaking this is the risk you run. If your moving from one sub to another, this is not a big deal. But you understand what I am getting at.

That said, its against the law in several states to go longer than 30/45/60 etc... days as a resident of the state without titling your car in that state/getting a drivers license. I dont rememeber in PA what it was, but I waited like 6 months before I did mine. I had a co-worker get a ticket when I lived in VA he got pulled over for something else, and wrote him a ticket for failure to register.
