Looks sketchy, ties and belts both. I see some stuff that might be authentic, but the Gucci ties, definitely not. Notice how similar they look to the fake Versace ties you showed earlier? The fonts and patterns on the Boss belts look a little strange as well.

i'm wearing a gucci tie today and the label on my tie looks different than that ebay tie's label and the gucci g on the front of the ebay tie is not like any gucci g i've seen, the g is usually very elongated and squat when alone which is totally different from the g in the intertwined double g logo which this ebay tie seems to have borrowed from

perhaps it's real, i don't know, but it may not be

Both obviously and irrefutably fake. This seller even has temerity to guggest the "Gucci" tie is "All of my ties are this years latest patterns and all are 100% authentic and brand new. " This is an outright lie. Do an eBay search on Gucci ties to see what current versions look like. Even the lining has the wrong number of dots between the GG (and horizontal not diagonal.) Pls see previous thread on Versace ties.

Please browse at real stores before you start experimenting with ebay.  I've tried to educate myself with the finer things in life since high school and only now have ventured into the world of ebay (I love online shopping but ebay is a lot more PT Barnum than Barney's Warehouse).

The Gucci logo is a pathetic fake.  The newest logos are quite slim and a completely different font. FWIW, I would never buy a Gucci tie--there are simply better choices available for the money (I'm personally waiting for the Thomas Pink after Christmas sale.  Their ties are quite thick and not as conservative as most of the fair I find at most of the department stores.  Well... Bergdorf has some great stuff but Im too poor even at sale prices).

Thanks for looking into that. I did peruse the comments from the Versace tie thread before I asked the question, but still found it a bit hard to really judge it. I also emailed the seller before posting the question and the conversation is pasted below. One more thing if you guys don't mind, how about this Harrod tie? This one looks real to me but your opinions count much more than mine. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws....0842992 http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws....0843093 Hello again, I buy them from close outs and whole sellers where ever I can find them. Thanks Ed Tiesource Subject: RE: Question for seller -- Item #2870874676 Mind if I ask where do you get these belts (and ties) from? >Subject: RE: Question for seller -- Item #2870874676 >Date: Thu, 20 Nov 2003 21:03:16 -0500 > >Hello, no I am not willing to accept any returns. I'm no expert on spotting fakes, but the tags on the Harrod's ties look similar to the ones on my Harrod's tie, so I'd assume it's authentic. In general, my observation is that it's best to avoid all the flashy name-brands like Gucci, Prada, Versace, especially the logowear. You're much more likely to get a fake, and it's not like the quality of even the real products is generally worth the price. I generally limit my ebay buying to tailored clothing and stick with labels that are more oriented towards the clotheshorses. Generally someone has to know something about clothes to be interested in Kiton or Isaia or Oxxford, and as such sellers are far less likely to try and put one over on their customers (though it has been done).

If you still are steadfast in getting Gucci or Versace products through eBay, e-mail conversations with the seller usually illustrate his legitimacy. Note that the seller of the fake products has a standoffish attitude in response to your questions and fails to provide a guarantee of authenticity. Since he's not confirming that his merchandise is the real deal, you cannot accuse him of misrepresenting it should you find that you bought a fake. An honest seller would a) address your questions in a friendly manner and try to provide a satisfactory response and b) guarantee that what he is selling is authentic.

The thing is that, as Baby Chickpea has pointed out, he's marketing his products as "this years latest patterns and all are 100% authentic and brand new".

In any case I was never interested in his ties, although I did have a slight interest in his belts. Not anymore.
