I knew that would be picked up before I posted it and was anticipating the witty comment. Still, sockless is my loafer default.

Agreed. I think I saw some write up on Broadsheet Melbourne where the owner of a shoe shop said loafers must never be worn without socks. I remember thinking he was a hack. Loafers can absolutely be worn with socks or sans socks.

Also, boat shoes and driving mocs look odd to me when worn with socks. Almost as bad as the sandals+socks combo.

Yes. Def worth it. You only need one fitting to place an order. Could arrange another trip for a pickup or maybe get it posted. Tom and Jen will know best and give you the options.

As for West Coast USA. My advice would be spend as little time in LA as possible (but you might have a better experience than me) and spend as much time as possible in SF. Wish I had gone to Cable Car Clothiers when I was there. Always looks great.

Is it worth seeing the guys at P.Johnson if I'm only in Melbourne for 3 days?
Also, "business casual" dress codes can go die. It's either business, or casual.

I don't see any harm in donning a buttondown, a sportcoat and some nice chinos on Fridays when I don't have to meet clients - maybe even a knit-tie. I have fun on business/smart-casual day.

Problem with making it strictly "casual" is because that's when ironic t-shirts and black skinny jeans rear they ugly head (although in some work environments, I know this is somehow accepted as business casual).

Also, second the opinion you should pop by PJohnson.

Also has the general public got an aversion to polish or is there something I'm missing?

DAVID JONES - Trading halt remains today pending announcement tomorrow of a potential 20% fall in first half profits.

Noticed yesterday that Zegna in the Brisbane store gone...was like death from a thousand cuts to way they ran that concept space, no strategy, no resource and mediocre stock. Replaced by a larger Hugo Boss footprint - now the snake skin gondola wearers will have somewhere to get their kit. Im guessing Pink will be next, followed by what little stock DJs has of Hackett.

Pink and Hackett are both recent additions in Brisbane. I've heard that Pink is doing (inexplicably) well, but then their strength has always been their ability to convince (or should I say, fool) people that they are getting a high end shirt.

Only because you asked nicely :)  I got a pair of C&J Chilterns - snuff suede chukkas on a Dainite sole. The Florsheim dark brown suede chukkas I currently have are too close to the Tetbury. I'll have two different coloured chukkas and three colours of C&J suede - snuff, expresso and tobacco all on different lasts.

Sounds like an awesome array.

Yeah, it's a good selection for sure and I'm very fortunate to have them.

It's a shame to have nice shoes that aren't being worn so I've started noting down what shoes I wear on each day just so I can keep them all in rotation.

I just don't understand Shirts.
I have been buying Cotton/Polyester businss shirts (Van Heusen and Ganton when on special) for the last 10 years and have probably gone through about 30 of them with no problem.
Based on advice from around here, I then went and purchased some two ply pure Cotton business shirts. 5 from Hiditch and Key and then 5 from Modern Tailor.
And I just don't get it. The two ply cotton is a bit scratchy compared to the polyester blend and I sweat a lot more in the pure cotton.
This is totally opposite to what I read on these forums ????
Is it an Australian climate issue ?

Totally confused.

For those interested in the suede conversation recently - http://linenforsummertweedforwinter...rdfitting-a-week-in-suede-in-review-day#notes

He has just started a new Week of Suede - http://forwardfitting.tumblr.com/

And for those who were discussing cordovan polishing - http://putthison.com/post/19584313567/boning-up-on-shells-my-go-to-shoes-for-rainy-days

Also I have a friend in Brisbane who was buying Pink shirts, which he used to get cheaper back in Scotland. I put him onto P Johnson Tailors and their Brisbane visits.
