I’ve been to De Burgh’s and last time they had mostly Ecco.

Seriously. Why is it so hard to find shoes in this city?

Maybe I’ll have to venture online. I guess the thing that worries me the most is the possibility of them not fitting, and having to send them back overseas. Postage is so expensive from this country.

As an aside for Sydneysiders (wordplay^fxh), I notice Josephs shoes in the Strand Arcade has branched out into selling Eton shirts:

Josephs Shirts is a new addition to Josephs. In keeping with their philosophy of quality products the store specialises in the Swedish brand Eton Shirts, along with Karl Largerfeld.

Maybe the Eton shirts aren't as overpriced as their Loake shoes but I haven't been tempted to wander in to the new shop yet.

As for Karl Lagerfeld... http://www.karl.com/en_uk/worldofkarl/index.php/karl-lagerfeld-in-24-hours ...'nuff said.

It is expensive. But even if you have to send a pair back once (or even twice), the equation is still in your favour compared with buying locally.

One thing I'd recommend is buying shoes based on a last that you might eventually want multiple styles in (...on? I've confused myself). For example, Loake's Capital last is pretty nice and they have a lot of shoes on that last. Work out whether that last fits you ok and then your size in that last and you have a whole bunch of options that you can order without thinking about it.

Also, say I do head into DJs to figure out sizing: How do I walk out of the store without buying anything and feeling like an idiot? I’ve done this at places like Gingers and whenever it happens, the staff member makes me feel like I’ve ruined his day. And this is just with cheaper, casual shoes.

    Thanks for the tip.

Expensive? I’d rather pay the coin now for a decent pair of shoes that’ll last me more than 12 months and look better too.

Just think about all the money you're saving.
Who's the idiot now? Not you sir, not you.

I watched Get Carter for the first time on the weekend. I was jealous of Michael Cains style.

You're the freakin customer. You are under no obligation to buy anything.

Just say 'thanks for your help, I'll have a think about it...'

    It's only DJs ffs.

Thanks for that. Yes, please do post a pic. The tie is on it's way - I expect it'll be another week or so.

Just took a look at The Age magazine in our pantry and noticed that they'd done a photo spread with a few of the Geelong players. I have to say they're wearing pretty decent clothes - Tombolini, Drakes and Grenson suede chukka boots. For once, it looks like stuff that a lot of men would/could conceivably wear and look good in.

Overpriced, but a much better looks that in most menswear features.

Oh, and by the way, not to be an AFL pedant but that is some of the Seven AFL commentary team (all ex players, Matthew Richardson - Richmond, Luke Darcy - Western Bulldogs and Cameron Ling - Geelong [and reigning premiership captain - what? We Cats followers need to make the most of it well it lasts]).

GN - will be in touch lunch re: Lunch shortly.

Ah, ok. That makes sense! Did they include the clothing details and suppliers in the web version? I couldn't see any information about that.

Pretty sure it is in very small print next to the photographs in the print version.
