I have in the past, like 1982-85 and the quality was good, bought a pair of blue suede shoes on sale last year and so far no complaints. Not my first choice for footwear to be honest.

Yep I did the 14.38k, was vastly under-prepared and so took it very easy but in the end felt ok and probably should have pushed it a bit more. My wife and daughter did the 5k (daughter in pram). How'd you go B-man?

So Paul Smith is opening in Melbourne:

They have a lovely building on Collins Street -- absolutely top tier real estate for retail I would say -- and it looks as if it might open reasonably soon.

I for one am looking forward to browsing there, laughing at the prices, and perhaps buying a pair of colourful socks at deep discount during a sale :)

Thanks for the heads up on Paul Smith! It'll be interesting to take a look in any case - perhaps there'll be an opening day offer like a free pair of cufflinks for anyone walking through the door [IMG]

If I ever join a glam rock band, I'll now know where to get my footwear ...

At a very wild guess I'd say Paul Smith are going to open where House of Cashmere was?

and I've gotta say, after going to Paris last year, I REALLY hate the expression "Paris end of Collins St". Collins St nowadays has about as much in common with Paris as Frankston does with London.

It's going to be at 120 Collins, near the cnr of Russell. Really lovely building.

Great building but I would have thought a tough retail location. No decent frontage windows, awkward entrance. Must be part of a master plan to keep the oi polloi like me out.

Was thinking on the same lines Ernesto. Will be interesting indeed given the PS usual model overseas is large shops - below from Tokyo and London of course. I know this building in Collins Street and can see some immediate challenges.
