I forgot to mention - one of the guys at work had some very nice brown wholecuts which I'd noticed for some time. I finally asked him about them and he says he gets them in Japan. Turned out to be made by Santoni.

Thanks for the heads up Geoffrey, I'll keep a lookout.

I see where you are coming from. All you need to buy now is to buy every possible colours for each of those shoes !! Seriously though maybe get some more shell cordovan(possibly 1 pair in each colours). And at least few pairs of drivers. Also a pair of saddle shoes missing on the list. And why not buy few pair of shoes in FU colours.

Thanks for the post, man. If I were to get more shell (in addition to the loafer and longwing), I guess it would be a tassel loafer. I wouldn't want shell copies of existing shoes and I'm not too interested in boots (very happy with the two chelseas and the suede chukka).

Also, there *is* the lack of shoe rack space :).

I like the idea of RMs but I'm put off by the price...

$325? Cheaper than most English chelsea boots and good value for what you get.

I got mine a few years ago for $220 at their seconds/clearance store in Sydney and I have seen the pretty frequently at around this price in their regular retail sales. I have never done a compare/contrast, but I thihnk they would sack up well against the English boots - and there is the added benefit of being able to try them on and not have to pay postage.

Gents, I'm likely headed to Malaysia for 4 days in April to attend a wedding. I'll be in KL for a day and a half. Any menswear spots to check out? I haven't been since I was a child.

If P Lal is still open and running, I think I'll stop by there, but don't know what else is there worth visiting. Perhaps Mr. Nelson could chime in?

Not really menswear related but check out the Cigar shop in the KLCC towers. It's pretty damn awesome.

Nothing I can think of as far as menswear is concerned - Massimo Dutti (in a few of the shopping centres) has quite nice stuff. I feel most stuff is overpriced and you're not really getting good value. I would go to Uniqlo and see what you could pick up - I like their vintage chinos, t-shirts and socks (I must have bought about 20 pairs when I was last there!).

P Lal is still open and going strong - they're located in what looks like a house and you'll need to get there by taxi. I was there in February and misssed getting a pair of C&J Westfields.

Thanks Prof. B. Bear and Gerry for your tips. Massimo Dutti is always worth a stop - it's a shame we only have Zara here and not the grown-up equivalent. Will definitely stop by Uniqlo, Gerry, although I have about 40 pairs of socks from there, four sweatshirts and three chinos so I don't know that they'll have anything for me.

It's great to know that P Lal is still open - I'm going to buy shoes. Boom. And then go to KLCC and smoke a cigar. I'm tempted to say 'like a boss', but that less managerial and more of an indictment against my generation's taste in humour..

Ha! I have nearly exactly half that :) 20 pairs of socks, two sweatshirts and 1 chino. Maybe look at the trackpants/sweatshirt combo or even their selvedge jeans. I've got some Heattech stuff but I have yet to use it - bring on winter!
