Went into DJs shoe department in Sydney. Woeful and full of high priced crap. Went upstairs to the suits and again pretty ordinary. DJs spent a fortune on a refit of the store and it looks even more chaotic than before.

Number 96 tram sightings - No. 3 in a series.

Very well polished brown toe cap oxfords, extremely well cut blue double breasted with peaked lapels (P Johnson perhaps?), blue pin dot shirt and brown tie. Cuffs on the trousers. Looked good.

Can anyone recommend a Melbourne-based tailor?

I would like to get a new suit made, however before just walking into any store and point saying "that one" I thought I'd see what is available.

Or at least any recommendations for any of the local stores?

    Thx

fk I hate suits with the extra trim on the lapels like that. seeing more and more of it in the city lately. often worn by people wearing white sunglasses and shoes.

I have my tailored clothes made at Adriano Carbone.

Maimone Charles is another tailor in Melbourne.

I've heard good things about Adriano Carbone. Spoken with him a little, too.

Your budget will likely dictate your choice. It would be worthwhile letting us know what you want to spend if you want sound advice.

This is true, but no matter what your budget, if you live in Oz the 'SF approved' short list is pretty tiny. What do we have?:
    --P. Johnson
    --MJ Bale
    --Herringbone
    --Adriano Carbone
    --...?

"SF Approved"... not sure I would put much weight into that concept.

Look at 3 posts above. We have someone giving a recommendation for a very expensive tailor Adriano Carbone, on the basis of having heard good things about him, or better yet, having had a chat with the guy. Where's the value in that post for a new member here?
