I was told that it is not adjustable due to the limits of the MTM system they are using, so not sure why this coat looks to have such closed quarters compared to other examples I have seen.

Actually there's a number of elements to that suit that to my eye mean that I wouldn't pick it as a PJohnson if I just saw the picture. Strange.

Strange... my two commissions are quite open/cut away... in fact Tom made a point of opening them up for me when I was fitted for the first time... other example I have seen posted here and on Tumblr also are quite wide.

A mate just had to ship some back to UK - fortunately it wasn't his mistake . Around $70 - as others have indicated.

So your landed cost less $70 is a break even if you want to sell here.

Guys anyone ought there a 40 inch waist? I found a pristine pair of Valentino khakis in an op shop today. Cotton twill, lined to the knee, flat front, 36" inseam, with room to let out at waist and hem. Not my size, but I couldn't leave them behind.

Also if there are any TM Lewin fans, I saw a stash of TM Lewin shirts size 18" x 36" for about $5 each. I could head there and pick them up next weekend, if they are still there. (They are a little lairy).

    G'day everyone,

I am going to America for the first time in a week or so to visit some friends. While I am over there I am hoping to find some proper jeans as I can't seem to find any here. Also I am looking to try on some Aldens if I can find them.

I am not going to NY or LA or anywhere like that. I will be in Denver for a bit and traveling around Georgia for a while.

So what I am after is the name of some shops and / or brands I should keep an eye out for. Can anyone give me a few tips?

On another note I received my first ever P Johnson suit recently...................now I need a higher paying job.

    LPS :)

Denver is great for western gear. I still regret giving away my corduroy western sport coat I got there.

    Cheap shirts and jeans.

    Levi's 501 for $49.

Forget English stuff. Stock up on Americana workwear.

    Check out Boulder.

Estes park is a great holiday place.

Read Keroac " On The road" prior to visiting Denver.

I would suggest a visit to Sid Mashburn in Atlanta, Georgia. They sell a variety of jeans there, too. I know they have a decent assortment of Levi's, as well as APC New Standards. I'm not sure where you'll find them on your travels in the US in Denver, but try to find some Tellason denim - it's all made in San Francisco using Cone Mills White Oak Selvedge denim so it's American through and through. Modern Levi's is shithouse, compared to what they used to offer. There's some excellent denim stores in San Francisco, so if your itinerary allows, try to head there. AB Fits is one, and they stock a range of Levi's deadstock XX denim which looks, feels and smells amazing. With Alden, try on an as many lasts as possible, both in calf and cordovan, as cordovan has a tendency to fit a smidgeon looser. That way, when you're back here in Australia and you want to buy online, you can purchase with greater confidence re: fit. That's my 2c. Have a great time :)

Bennies in Atlanta should also be a stop for shoes at the right price.

If you were a size 9.5, I'd have grabbed the Lowndes :) Hope they sell soon.
