Popped down to R&B on Collins just then. It's like a friggin jungle in there. Heaps of knit ties and no one paying much attention to them. Grabbed one, but the remembered I am broke so with great reluctance I put it down. If you want to snap one up go on down there. Silk squares at $9 seem alright but all they have is brown.

It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from goin under...

I have a bone to pick with R&B. I bought a couple of their shirts a while back and then washed them and line dired them according to my usual practice ...lo and behold the amazing shinking shirts!

I always assume ther will be a little bit of a change in fit after washing, but this was a lot - couldn't do up the collar and body made me look like one of those gut buster adverts.

Which is a shame, because otehrwise they looked like quite nice shirts.

So I had a look at the new Cantarelli offerings at Azzaro. There are two blocks. One is a 3-roll 2 button with a nice tailored cut, classic shoulders and is bit longer in the the jacket and sleeves. The other is a more modern 2 button which is very slim fitting through the waist, narrow sleeves, higher armholes, softer shoulders etc. It fitted me very much like a Zegna 'Milano' model.

Both blocks come in a wide range of fabrics and styles. Some light greys in lighter fabrics for summer, some in a mini charcoal houndstooth, some subtle blue checks, some lovely pinstripes in a heavier wool for winter.

No EU 46 though, sorry blahman..but plenty from EU 48 upwards. Some of these are 'made to order' from Azzaro. They pick the fabric swatches and get Cantarelli to make them for them.

Didn't try on the trousers but they looked nice. Full button fly with 3-button closure.

Oh...and new shirts coming in August apparently.

Damn I missed it. Were they wool or wool/cashmere like the knits?

Wool/Cash, $29. Sort of window paney. Some brown, purple, orange if I remember right.

Oh son of a bitch I typed out a big post then hit clear. Abbreviated version:

Weight loss and lack of caring about suits mean I don't have any decent suiting options to wear (when I thought I did) on a trip to Las Vegas in 2 weeks. Because it will be for going out to clubs I don't want to spend too much. I'm also losing weight and building muscle (9kg down, 6 to go!) so I don't know how much use I will get out of it in the future but I do have a wedding to attend in late September so it'd be nice to use it there too.

With an self inflicted budget of $400 what are my best options? I'm thinking Zara and Azzaro at this point, anyone else I should check out? Anyone got any other thoughts about how I could handle this situation?

What can you get at Azzaro? Enrico Coveri?

Do clubs really make you wear suits? It's the middle of Summer in the States right now.

I think you should just find the cheapest suit you can get your hands on that fits, since you are doing some hardcore rapid weight loss. Any decent suit that fit you now will be a waste.

80% cashmere 20% wool, made in italy, $29. Only about 2 styles if I recall. This was the Collins St store between Queen & Elizabeth, not 101 or the one at Spencer St end.

They don't make you but it is the desire of the groom that at least one night we suit up. My mumbling and grumbling has gone ignored. This detail was in the unabbreviated version that I accidentally deleted.

Now where are my white jeans....

I just got given a near new TM Lewin Shirt. I'm going to wash it around 5 or 6 times to see how it measures after that.

Badly set up experiement though - I washed it twice already and didn't measure it first.

I might measure it after 3 washes then 6.

Then I might give it a burst in dryer on warm and see what happens.

I might ask someone here to measure a NEW TML same size etc.

Shirt shrinkage is mysterious and inconsistent these days.
