I wore my cordurouy suit for the first time yesterday.

I broke out my flannel suit earlier in the month one a one-off cold-outbreak..but its about to go into high rotation.

Cool mornings here (more on account of daylight savings starting us all in the dark), but still broke out the seersucker earlier in the week.

Memorial Day to Labor Day is the "period" for seersucker in the US - what's the Aussie equivalent I wonder? Perhaps we could make a rule up here.

Let's say "Melbourne Cup Day (November) to Easter (March/April)" is the equivalent antipodean period. That gives us all a couple of weeks before the ssucker goes back into mothballs.

Rain? all it did was rain in Summer.

Reasonably cold in Canberra today this am, glad to see the end of daylight savings sick of eating breakfast by electric light, bleak greet day lot of pea coats this morning but by about mid day the sun has come out and its quite warm.

Still think its going to be a total bastard of winter and I have to arrange to have the heater fixed ASAP.

Sydney was excellent today. It got a bit warm but then the nor'easter kicked in for a while.

People here often ask about Topy on soles.

I get all my leather soles Topy-ed. I think meister does too.

Never had any trouble. It certainly wears well and when Topy wears down - takes forever - then simply strip Topy off and re-do.

My main reason for Topy is to prevent nasty falls on slippery surfaces. Especially stairs and tile floors. Theres nothing gentlemanly or iGent cool about slipping arse over tit on a marble foyer in front of those dudes in shiney black suits with bright pastel coloured ties and square toed Aquila shoes, you have just done a pitch to.

This is my latest Topy - nice leather coloured. After a few wears there isn't an iGent even, let alone the average punter , who would notice it wasn't leather. Not that anyone ever sees the bottom of your shoes.

Its worth making sure the cobbler bevels the edges to look great

Sorry for coming into your mononational thread again, but is this something that is commonly available or do you have a 'special' cobbler for that? The leather coloured topy that is, of course.

Available worldwide as far as I know (ubiquitous in Oz) but for some reason not all that familiar in USA and it seems from some posts some EU peoples aren't familiar with it. Its thin - not thick blob

Talking about shoes, I did some shoe shopping on Friday afternoon. I am having an ethical delimina over an issue that we have disussed here many times: buy off the net or pay a premium for local service. In this case, a pair of Loake boots that cost AUD300 on the net (including shipping) or locally for AUD500. I am all for local service, but I am having trouble paying an additional 66% just for the service. I am still on the fence, but am struggling to fight the temptation to buy online.

How good is this local service you speak of? I'm guilty of hitting up the local David Jones to try out Loake sizing and then ordering from Herring, no regrets at all.
