1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Gents, I'm selling three E.G Cappelli (handmade) ties that simply don't make it into my regular rotation. They are gorgeous and in perfect condition with the blue and grey wool ones being worn less than 5 times and the brown wool one being NWOT. I thought I would see if there was interest here before I list them anywhere else. PM me a reasonable offer and I will consider.

    1. Blue wool/cashmere blend - 3" x 57"

Ms was down at Fairhaven yesterday surfing!!!! and said it was cool-ish on the beach.

I just went out to a lunch to celebrate TET .

The temperature has just dropped to 29C with the change but the wind has been gusting at 40Ks on the way back. Still bloody dangerous for fires.

I may be the only person in the world who has just seen an Aussie Vietnamese woman in traditional dress get up in a suburban hall, in front of a crowd and sing a version of Jambalaya - in Vietnamese!

thibodeaux, fontainbleau, the place is buzzin

    indeed

True I clearly wasn't the only one if there was a crowd. Bugger. I'll ring Guinness Records and call them off.

Canberra is as dry as the nuns preverbal, virtual tinder box ready to go up, not good at all and another week of high 30c looming.

Chinese New Year celebrations last more than two weeks. Maybe it's the same with Tet?

Its NOT Chinese New Year. Its Lunar New Year.

Vietnamese call it Tet. Koreans also have it. Some Japanese do.
I can tell you with some authority that the Vietnamese are not too thrilled when its referred to as Chinese. As to dates , it was held now as many people were away visiting family on the start dates. And to separate it from those Chinese celebrations ! And get the politicians free to attend.

    Hi,

I am been a long term lurker on this site but this is my first post.

I would just like to add my thoughts on op-shop, not thrift, and ebay purchases.

I have been lucky with my vinnies purchases, a Zegna suit which was unmarked and which fitted perfectly , a Gieves & Hawkes suit which had a small rip in the lining. Also a David Jones house brand and several others which I have worn for a while and regifted to vinnies. The dearest was the Zegna which cost fifty dollars, the others between 25 & 40.

In regard to ebay I dont think youcan go past the site "vanityfaire", I recently purchased a Belvest, 2 button grey plaid, think Jordan Belfort. Including delivery, it cost 175 and arrived 5 days after payment.

As to shirt purchases if one has the patience Paddys Markets at Homebush is a gold mine, name brand, Polo, Gant, CT for 3-4 dollars.

In a longwinded way I am saying that with the minimum outlay it is possible to buiild a wardrobe that anyone can be proud of.

Welcome Sydney boy. I must warn you there is a cranky old bloke sniffin' around Sydney op shops. Watch out for him. He'll be wearing funny shaped old two toned shoes…

I have an obsession with navy shoes . I currently have 3 pairs - navy shell cordovan florsheim ,AE players navy suede and Grenson navy suede . I had a pairs of AE park ave new in box for a very long time . And I always wanted a pair of navy captoe ! Over the years I have seen many step by step guide in style forum on how to re dye a pairs of shoes in to different colour. While it's not impossible , it's not easy either. Anyway finally today I thought what would be a perfect way to waste Sunday . Below is how it was done . Striping existing dye is the hardest part. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
