1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

It seems they removed the link?

Do all Herringbone stores in the Sydney CBD carry C&J?

Looks like someone realised they screwed up and took down the site.

    ovlov,

I realise that the Leather Soul sale might offer some good bargains, but given that you only have a few pairs of good shoes, if I were you, I'd hold off on purchasing a pair of navy shoes and instead get something a bit more classic and flexible - chocolate brown or mid-brown for preference, given that you've got a pair of black shoes already.

    Stiva and others,

At the risk of contradicting what I've just said to ovlov, my father was a fan of navy shoes and he used to wear a pair with a navy suit when he was younger (this is well before I was born). I remember, as a teenager, being horrified when my father told me that he wore navy shoes when he was younger as, at the time, I thought that business shoes should only be black or brown.

However, my father said that you wore black shoes with a charcoal suit, dark navy shoes with a navy suit, and brown shoes with a brown suit. His view was that if women can have differently-coloured shoes for different outfits, then why shouldn't men?

Always with the sobering advice. I guessed you would say something like that and did consider it. However I am primarily looking to fill the fill a casual gap in my wardrobe (my only casual shoe atm is a beat up old pair of Merrels) and there are very few brown shoes around that I like all that much; your Asquiths were pretty much the only exception and if I had been able to try them on first or could find find a F pair anywhere for under $500 I'd jump at them. I'm looking to get a pair of burgundy or oxblood shoes as well for my next purchase, however once again I haven't been able to find anything I like all that much in the sub-500 range.

Thanks chaps, no they aren't EG, though I'd likely get more kudos if I said they were!

    They are, in fact, Tricker's.

All the crazy sales on at the moment.

No purchase club means it's actually hard work not looking.

Maybe JM will get his wish. The sales staff is recommending I go with size 10 over 10.5 as the Cleverly last is much wider than that EG 82. But they only have Antique Tan in that size. Also a nice colour but idk if it would go with my brown and khakis...

Meermin and Ed Et Al do a very similar Adeliade. Lovely shoe, and something I've got my eye on - but how many pairs of brown shoes can one man own before it becomes excessive?

    Actually, don't answer that!

Every year my old man purchases a pair of Aquilla's for $50 on special. They last him one year of 5 days a week wear for about 12 hours a day.
Let's say a pair of Crockett and Jones would last 10 years of the same wear. These are about $600 from Double Monk, give or take.[IMG]

They look like Tricker's Belgrave (I have them in Tan), but I've never seen that colour before [IMG]
