Go surplus or try buzz rickson; my friend bought one and its fantastic!
P.S.
Can someone confirm how Epaulet's chino's fit? From measurements I assume they are a slim-straight rather than a slim-skinny; I'm after the 34 and the thighs seem to be really roomy at 12.75'.

They will fit differently for people with different frames. Compare the measurements to a pair that fit you well.

^They seem to be cut just like the straight cut denim I bought recently (waist: 35", thigh:12.3", knee: 9", leg opening: 8") with a roomier thigh of 12.75" and more tapered legopening of 7.75."
Can someone comment on the general fit of them and whether they sized down or not?

I have a few Walt trousers from Epaulet which are quite slim compared to the Bill's Khakis M3 in the same size. Not sure how the Rivets will be though. I think Jimbosaurus here got a pair and should be able to comment.

By the way, did you get the Barbour?

I don't usually critique looks in this thread, but I dislike the shirt + tie. Tie is a lovely piece on its own (I have one), but the shirt looks un-ironed and the knot looks too loose.

Not only that, blahman, I suspect they'd wouldn't be as slim fit as you'd like. I wonder if seventeen and a half hours without a post is a record for this thread.

How's the weather over where you are? It's hasn't hit the expected 37 degrees over here.

By the way, apart from Aspesi, does anyone here have recommendations for an M-65 jacket? I might just have to make a trip to the military surplus shops in Melbourne and pick one up. By all accounts, the advice has been to size down when you buy one of these.

We were going for a record, G. And I suspect you've ruined it! Let's start again with not posting and going outside and being in the real world, and all that jazz..

On the M-65 front. I've thought about buying an Alpha M-65 (they supplied US soldiers apparently).

Jobro - not to take anything away from your opinion but this was the context: the photo was taken at the end of the day rather than the start. The colours were chosen because it was the company's end of year party that night and the instructions were for people to be bright and bling-y. Interesting observation about it looking unironed though.

In any case, I still LOVE that shirt :)

Um, TBM, you'll notice I was responding to the person who broke the drought :)

On the M65 front, Alpha seems the way to go but sized down.

Henry Carter ties do have those ripples/creases in them. I have certainly noticed them with mine. It must be a deliberate style.

Got my barbour ages ago Gezza (few weeks); though can't be stuffed rewaxing because it's so darn hot! Will wait and rewax just before Autumn (probably a bad idea but oh well). Also if you didn't see check out Buzz Ricksons for a field jacket.
P.S.
Still looking for some sizing advice for the rivets.

MS, I thought that was more a reflection of my sloppiness than anything else :)

Rob, in case I haven't said it enough - I LOVE that shirt and I keep finding excuse to wear it. You can pry it out of my cold, dead hands!

By the way, that was a High Tied Tie from our own tobiasj and the suit was PJ from that LP Zealander material that we both have. Man, that was a very Aussie outfit!!

Didn't realise G!

Yes, Alpha sized down to XS or S. They're made to fit over combat gear and if you're not wearing that then it's going to fit HUGE..

Sidenote: mobile layout for SF is now a lot better.
