1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Which one is that TBM? I got the Vaughan navy herringbone but that's 100% merino I think.

Same suit - Tom explained that it's tagged incorrectly, actually a linen/wool mix.

Don't worry, they only have 7 and 8; not 7.5.

    P.S. I'm also 7.5 and neither 7 nor 8 fit.

Ah right, that probably explains why I thought the fabric seemed a little easily creased for wool!

The creases are the best part about linen. Tom was very helpful as always - most of the Melbourne folk have popped in to see MJ Bale here by now, right?

ive got simpson and robert lasts

Simpson too tight across the bottom of the tongue, Robert too loose across the lace and heel

I still wear both but neither are a perfect fit on my foot. Interested to try Inca and Rain lasts for a comparison

They're spring loaded, so a half-size large would be better. I don't think being a little too small would be a big deal; the difference is in the area of 4mm.

Many have commented on the rarity in Australia of sartorial details such as pocket hankies (not so rare these day), side adjusters, grenadine ties etc.

Which brings me to forward pleats. Something I had seen in these pages, but considered thylacine-rare IRL in Oz.. ...until this afternoon, when I saw someone wearing forward pleat trousers as part of a mid-grey suit (own up if it was you - West end of Market St, SYD), which is proof that:

    a) they do exist (maybe they're everywhere and I just haven't been paying attention) and
    b) it's actually a pretty good look if the tailoring is right.

I know the idea of pleats is anathema to some - along with single-vents, cufflessness, trousers which meet ones (black) shoes - but I like them. I even like double pleats. Maybe I will try out some of these forward facing ones in the future.

Not with that jacket... maybe if it was 50 shades of grey lighter.

yup pleats if done well are good

needs to be flattering rather than make you look like you are carrying a major hernia in your pants

Alan from the Armoury has a few pairs done well - Ambrosi trousers i think

Though the wool mix should stop some of the extreme creasing you see with pure linen.
