1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

It is so hot. Who thought that global warming would be a great idea?

Do you sail as well DB? The Gold Coast is pretty lack luster for sailing. There are plenty of great races down here in Sydney. That picture depicts pleasure sailing, which has a target audience of consisting of retirees. I prefer to go a bit faster.

If a wedding has a dress-code of "cocktail" and starts at 6.00pm at a posh restaurant, what do you think that means? I suspect the groom will suit/no tie, but not sure.

I assume that would mean black bow-tie and tux.

Michael you're thinking of black tie, which would be very overdressed for a restaraunt and what he is describing, Suit and no tie is what I'd assume as well. If it had lounge suit I'd assume ties should be worn. I'd still wear a tie for cocktail though fwiw.

I can see why you might assume that, but I reckon if black tie was the go they would say that. I'm thinking a darkish suit and white shirt - I'd normally add a tie, but is it bad to wear a tie if the groom is not? Mrs S is saying a bone cotton suit is the go - but that seems to 'daytime' to me.

Whenever someone says cocktail I picture Tony Montana in scarface lol

I think in reality cocktail suggests normal suit attire and people use the term as reference to NOT black tie.

It also renders imagery of more colour, no dark suit, no black shoes but of course play within your own realm of wardrobe choice!

At all the not very many specifically Black Tie functions I've been to in the last 5 years less than 5% have actually worn a Dinner suit and black bow tie.

Cocktail should mean in by 5.30pm out by 7.30pm but I doubt people stick to that.

Cocktail should mean dressing up - not down - for going out on town later.

Any weddings I've been to lately very few are even wearing ties, let alone jackets or suits. [insert standard online pompous rant about current dress standards]

Truth is - unless you have evidence otherwise - almost any clean jacket and clean shirt and trousers that aren't too tight, too loose or too long will be more dressed up than most there.

Cocktail Dress really is the time for the shiney mohair suit with white shirt and knit tie.

hey guys - looking for some input.

Im working on a menswear product that can involve a high degree of customisation and just wondering what websites you have seen that have a good interface? looking for some inspiration.

Ive looked at things like shoes of prey, indochino, joe button, institchu etc as examples but none have blown me away yet (shoes of prey is probably best)

    Cheers
    Rob

A large parcel of boating revolves around the
Broadwater, docking off at stradebroke BBQng on the many beaches, with "all my
people". I cruise around on my bro in laws
boat for a bit of pace and like to kayak fish...

Lots of interpretations (and there will be many on the night) but I believe the correct one is dark suit and tie. Definitely not 'black-tie' unless it is a state function or royalty will be present. Regardless, there will be guests there in chinos and a short sleeve casual shirt.

    Cottonwork is fairly cool Romp.

And a cross post from the 'Carmina Shoe P0rn Thread:
Guys I have very flat and short feet; they usually bulge out the sides because the sole width of the waist is not enough for my extremely flat feet. Yet when I size up to accommodate this they are just too long. What last would you recommend for this? (if Carmina has none maybe another company?)
