I wore these today co-incidentally, my perfect burgundy derby.
^ Yeah, get those. Jason knows what he's doing.
Beautiful pair of derbies, Jason!!! Really lovely.
The SW&D crowd seem to all rave about Common Project stuff and leather quality is supposedly one of the strengths. I say handle it yourself before judging its quality.
I never noticed the Chiodo shop down Russel.
Also just finally found out where Luisas is - and completely taken by surprise by how much shop space they take over! Found a pair of nice plain toe oxfords by Cesare Paciotti at Luisas. Not $700 nice though!
Surprised the shop is run by another attractive Asian girl.
Bottle of Colonia Assoluta came in the mail. Ordered from fragrancex last week and came yesterday. Seems to be perfectly fine. No idea why fragrancex get such bad reviews about old stock that's off or really slow delivery. Really loving the smell so far - masks my fart very well too.
Fart-masking is key.

I received my Christian Louboutin's from McClouds Shoes, Melbourne to be Topy earlier last week. It was a devastating experience. I told the young man in the store specifically not to cover off the Christian Louboutin logo on the sole when being Topy. He presumes that the cobbler won't and say it will be fine and will be what I expected. When I receive them, my new Christian Louboutin Freddy from a week ago felt like it was used a year ago. The cobbler who did the Topy job was rough, the Christian Louboutin logo was cropped, the sole and upper leather was scratched permanently and the sides where cover up with a permanent marker pen which has a shiny blue finish that was suppose to be black. It was horrible! All I wanted them to do is a neat and clean job without damaging the leather and cropping the logo.
The person who served me did not apologise and went off to serve other customers, while the older guy explained to me that if they do not crop the Christian Louboutin logo on the sole, the Topy will come off after a while blah blah blah... Do I look like I care when I specifically told them earlier not to crop the logo? I have experienced with many cobblers that they have a habit to crop off logos when they Topy shoes with the same excuse. But when I look at other people shoes being Topy in the States they never crop the logo and always finish it off as new. The best part of McCloud Shoes is that they charge me $85.00 on the job when I could have gotten it done outside for $45.00. I expected they will charge more earlier, but not with this kind of workmanship.
I felt cheated by this service, and learned that I will never Topy my shoes anymore and use their service, horrible. I highly recommend everyone not to use McCloud Shoes to repair or resole their shoes. They claim to be a specialist in shoe repair, but they are not.
Firstly, let me say I couldn't care less about the logo on the soles of my shoes, and dare I say it nor will you in a few weeks' time. They get scratched off/kicked off in pretty short measure anyway, especially if you occupy bar stools as often as I do (which is probably too often truth be told).
Having said that, if you asked for the job to be done a specific way, then they should have either done what you asked of them, or refused to do it if they couldn't guarantee a reliable topy job. Especially for $85... mate that is a rip off in no uncertains.
As for scratching upper leather and using texta, those are cardinal sins and really should be the focus of your dissatisfaction.
Finally, I generally hold off topying my shoes until they have a bit of wear. That way, when you get them back, they look newer rather than older than when you dropped them off.
WIWT. Lighting was poor - Gerry this is the same blue fabric as yours.
What exceptionally fine taste you have, Rob!
And you good sir!
I don't see anything wrong with his Park Ave's, man.
I do. For a pair of cap toes, they are ugly as sin. Ugly last and awfully short toe cap.
And the Louboutin logo comment is
A proper topy requires sanding part of the sole down.
That being said you have the right to request whatever you want to be done or not to be done to your shoes - no matter how ridiculous.
Mclouds also has the right to refuse your special requests if they find them stupid - but only before taking on the job. It's not right to agree on the terms then go off and do something else. Plus the marks and scratches are simply not on.
