So I hop onto the Uniqlo Australia website to have a look at the Spring-Summer 2019 Uniqlo U range - and find that the trousers only seem to be available for waist sizes from 29" to 34"!

What!?!?
I trust they are not going down that road with the Chinos.

Care to elaborate on why you say this?

In my opinion, Ethan and Kenji do what they do very well. I’ve got the 133 denim and it’s a pretty great early 40s repro, and that’s actually not something the other brands you mention really do (that said, I like Full Count a lot).

What I like about the Bryceland’s: nice high rise, half selvage denim, lovely leather patch, and buttons which rust (although gimmicky I think this is quite cool). What I don’t like so much: the cut, at least on me, is very full with a bit too much room in the thighs, although I probably could’ve gone down a waist size.

I have quite a few pairs of jeans other than these including Freewheelers 1947s, three pairs of At Last (2 x Lee repro and one Levi’s repro), lots of LVC (5 pairs), a pair each of Warehouse Duck-Digger & Brown, RRL, etc.

My absolute favourite jeans are the Freewheelers 1947, followed by the Bryceland’s and At Last (probably too close to split).

the rivets and buttons on my orslows have either rusted or taken on quite a bit of green patina. my TCB type II jacket even moreso. it depends on the amount of copper used, obviously.

Real man sizes probably sell out quickly. I can usually find size 36 in-store and the occasional 38. That's shopping for denim and chinos though; I don't buy dress pants there.

Yes, that's usually the case - they used to have them, but they sold out.

However, for the Uniqlo U range, the listing on the website doesn't even indicate anything other than sizes 29-34 - it appears that they simply didn't make them in another other sizes!

Before I put this on B&S, I thought I'd mention it here.....

Got a size 34 C&J belt that I'm looking to offload. Black with silver buckle. As new condition. With box.

$120 (+postage if necessary, but prefer COD in Sydney).

I'm interested. Photo does not appear. Can you PM it to me or just post again? I'm in Sydney today (Tuesday) and tomorrow.

Henry bucks cracks me up, like going back in time before there was internet and the sales staff who ignore you unless you're presented accordingly.

Anyway some highlights from their sale I noticed:
* 1 Midnight suede valstar 48 going for $1K
* plenty of olive / navy cotton valstars <500
* Loake shoes down just below $300. Mostly less common sizes. Would have loved a pair of the burgundy.

Really depends. At sale time they hire a lot of people in and some are nice and some are dullards.

Don't go there often enough now to know what it's like outside of sales. At least that atrocious chap is no longer there.

they made a big push to freshen up their offering to appeal to younger customers a little while ago. i guess the reality is that cheapskates like you and i dont want to pay full price, so it didnt really work out for them. if their core is 50yrs+ guys buying the same few suits every year, then best stick to that

They'd make their money on the suits, no doubt. Good luck to them. I wonder how that big Canali space fares? Been there a while now.

I was amazed at how many casual long sleeve shirts were on sale. Someone may have over ordered.
