Where is the best place to buy Common Projects in Melbourne at less-than-extortionate prices?

Is that a thing? In my searches last year i could find a single australia stockist that didn't charge at least 25% over US retail. I ended up getting mine online through sales at about $250-300ea where the same in aus would have been at least $550

I agree that prices here are ridiculous. I've checked out the online sales and most don't have my size. I'm also uncertain whether I am a 44 or a 45 in CPs.

If it helps im a 10uk in EG 82 and Cleverly Thomas and a 44 in CP. When i tried the 1st 44 CP i ordered they were i bit too tight but they stretched out enough to be perfectly comfortable after a couple of wears.

That does help. My reference fit is a 10.5E in C&Js. Sounds like I'd need a 45.

Just grabbed 3 . Hopefully they're a tiny bit more solid and uniform than the $30 ones from random Chinese eBay sellers I've bought in the past.

From the information I received from Trimly, they certainly will be.

I recently bought a pair of ebay trees. They were not cedar and the left heel was totally misshapen. I got a full refund.

Nowhere. As @fxh will confirm, guys like us are far too old and crochety to wear sneakers.

At the risk of being pedantic, the correct i-Gent phrasing is “Just pulled the trigger on a pair of EG Dovers in doak”.

you know what, while i'm here, on Sydney MTM suits:

my friends and i all get suits from PJ or suitshop. i am currently paying ~$1700 w extra pants from SS (i think PJ is slightly out of my price range..?), which is okay, but i can't help but think that the quality (cloth and cut) is pretty average - unlimited stitch ups for tears helps... my guy at SS, Tom, has also recently left.

what do you guys think? is there a prevailing view on suits under $2k for younger guys in Syd? i would probably buy maybe 2 a year and know a number of other guys in the same situation. plz help

agree that this has been historically the case, but not sure if true anymore. have bought >5 pairs CPs on sale at End, TBS etc over the years at ~$300AUD, but it now seems that the OG models (eg achilles low) are now more difficult to come by as they've grown in popularity - usually the seasonal ones that i see on sale.

must say that while CP are undeniably, IMO, the best standard mens sneaker, i haven't been able to bring myself to reup since they arrived at incu a couple of years ago - and now DJs!!!

Pretty sure Samhober.com is still the go to place for sweet value for money ties. Though I prefer Vanda at just a tad over 150 though.

PJ do free repairs? I never knew they offered that service. Ill have to chase them up about that. I've been mostly going with PJ and SS too for a while. I'm seeing Joe Ha at TFC in a few weeks to try out the Zing Chen line. I've heard promising things so far. MTM is 1950 so maybe close to your budget.

Hey if you haven't used Vanda before. flick me a pm. I can give you a referral link that nets us both a discount!

TFC = The Finery Company . Joe is the founder. I understand he used to be a regular here many years ago. TChoy has been singing his praises for years but he has very little internet presence besides instagram and until recently their only offerings were from high end Korean and Italian bespoke maker with eye watering prices.

PJ and SS have kind of blended together now. PJ sells 3 lines with the bottom 2 made in China like SS. I've only ever got one 'Roma' suit. The finishing was a little better and the cloth seemed much nicer than the starting range for the made i China lines, but I don't think it's worth the markup to me unless I really wanted something in a cloth that wasn't available or had a significant markup.

Anybody have any experience with Chatham Marine shoes? This looks like pretty good quality and looks for the price they are asking.
