Trunk in Sydney 23 - 26 March.

Otherwise you could try REMY, Casa Del Sarto MTM from Schneider & Co or bespoke from Rochefort

How does Trunk's pricing compare do you know? I really like a lot of their style and was considering giving them a whirl - curious if you or any other members have any experience with them you could share? Thx.

I'm in the same boat as you - really like their stuff but haven't used them so unsure, sorry!

Starts at $1,650 for MTM. Starts at $2,000 for "bespoke" which involves a basted fitting.

I've had one suit made by them and another in the works. Really happy so far!

Has anyone used Oscar Hunt recently? I commissioned some suits from them a few years ago and have since stopped buying MTM/bespoke suits during that time for a few reasons. Have recently hopped onboard the suiting train again and would like to get a few new commissions. Oscar Hunt used to be really nice garments for the price range (~$1500) a few years ago, and was just wondering if they are still worth it/up to standard or if there any other good MTM suit makers available in Sydney (other than P Johnson since I'm not the biggest fan of their house style).
i used them three months ago for a shirt and was underwhelmed by the process + end results: pretty much identical to institchu but 2x the price (wouldn't be surprised if they use the same factory).

no experience with suits etc, though.

Just had measurements taken at their trunk show - $1750 for a single-breasted suit in Huddersfield wool. They seemed like really nice guys, pretty happy so far.

Interesting.

And quite the indictment comparing them to Institchu - who are without doubt the worst 'tailoring' experience I've had in Australia.

i found the IS and OH MTM appointments themselves to be almost a mirror of each other, even though they were undertaken in two different states about 12 months apart. i had an average experience at IS and was expecting OH to run rings around them, but despite a nicer showroom this wasn't the case at all.

you could argue the quality of the finished OH shirt is very marginally 'better', but certainly not enough to justify two times the cost (from memory the IS shirt was a hair under $100, and OH was a hair over $200) considering some of the errors they made.

i am tall with fairly average measurements, so can't imagine what they would do with someone out of the norm. either way, i personally wouldn't return to either; PJT's shirting is too expensive (for me), so OTR it is moving forward.

Yep, agree - I've tired all of the local MTM options (outside of OH) and ultimately haven't found any of them to be that impressive. Kamakura's OTR range in terms of fit, durability and pricing is the best I've found actually.

Thanks for the heads-up/reminder on Kamakura. I need some new shirts and a recent trip to MJ Bale left me more than underwhelmed (mainly the staff more interested in talking to one another than seeing how the fit worked). They did suggest I could get their shirts tailored which basically puts them in the MTM price point anyway!

I was considering OH, might try my luck elsewhere. Cheers

Hi all hunting for some trousers that are a non low rise cut. MJB are all way too slim and low rise. Anyone have suggestions for options in Brisbane? Ideally side tabs too.

I’m eyeing off spier mackay options but gotta convince the groom (I’m the best man) that we might not have any brick & mortar store options locally.

Try Cavour.

I've bought a couple of pairs of their low rise pants with side tabs in the last year and found them to be excellent cut and quality. Sale on too.

Sorry to be clear, I do not want low rise. Anything that might be considered medium or a bit higher rise would be ideal.

I do have some Cavour pants which are great construction/material but found them more low-mid rise and way too slim for my ratio of hips to thick legs.

Now that I am starting to travel for work again, I find myself wanting a decent garment bag. I have been using suit bags that came with various suits, but they are getting a bit ratty, and I would prefer something neutral/unbranded.

Ideally, it should also be pretty slim and lightweight, to facilitate taking it on planes along with a carry-on, without raising the ire of the airline hosts. Something like a Filson is really a separate piece of luggage in itself.
