Viccel socks... yay or nay?
I own about a dozen pairs of Viccel and a dozen Mazarin/Bresciani from Mes Chaussettes Rouges, all mid calf.

The elastic on most Viccel pairs starts to come apart after one or two washes (though still wearable). Some (not all) are also more prone to developing holes. I’ve not had these problems with Mazarin/Bresciani.

Ultimately you get what you pay for. I’m not sure what I would do for my next pair of socks.

If you do get Viccel, make sure you get expedited shipping (used to be fedex) otherwise they will sit in Turkish post for 3 months. (I think they’ve actually stopped offering standard post now).

Just bought a Ring Jacket suit and got stung over $300 for gst, import duty and gov charges fee. Which makes this exercise of getting a suit from Japan quite costly. For the same cost I probably could have flown down to Melbourne and get an MTM suit from suitshop or even pjt.
Shipped via UPS? Their 88 dollar customs entry fee is just criminal.

Dhl. $58 import duty, $88 gov charges, $22 disbursement fee, $138 gst

I’ve never been charged customs fees. I've always thought it was no charge on items <$1000. Is this a new thing or is your suit over that threshold?

must be >1000, because i had a parcel valued at 998 arrive on sunday and had no duties/taxes payable.

I took the value as being around $1380 based on the GST payable ($138). Together with the other charges, that’s a really sizeable extra whack on top of the price of the suit ?

Yep... anything over $1K gets slammed with ridiculous taxes! Bought a pair of Carminas for just over that and BOOM! $300 odd dollars to the government!

Yea I kinda let my guard down regarding all the additional charges. I've bought items over $1000 that didn't include all of that (besides gst). I even bought my engagement ring online last year and it only included gst.
