It’s easier for me to count how many 3 roll 2s or dbs I have then 1b. 1bs are the bomb imo especially in peak lapel format

I’ve yet to own a jacket with a single button peak lapel configuration besides a dinner jacket - probably the reason why I steered away from it because it’s got that dinner suit vibe!

I think 2/3 of my wardrobe are SBPLs...I like that clean angled minimalist look and I do love the dinner suit vibe (which I temper with textured fabrics rather than full worsteds and it works for me)

Had to google if huntsman preceded Henry Poole, which is silly, as they were the first, i believe...

I’ve only managed to get one bespoke suit from Bijan who worked at Huntsman for a few years after he became a master tailor. He still follows that aesthetic albeit with a very soft natural shoulder without padding.
He’s due to retire next year so anyone hoping to get a suit from him should order now.

What's the deal with MTM in Brisbane these days. Any new go-to options or same as usual? (ie no real options)

I haven’t lived there for nearly 4 years but I’m pretty sure your best bet would be a vaulting tailor from Sydney/Melbourne. What’s your budget?

Yeah I'm returning to Brisbane after 6 years in Sydney. Im using PJT so will stick with them when they restart trunk shows. Was just wondering if anything has changed.

I looked up deerstyle... I can't tell if theyre still operational anymore? No instagram/fb/tumblr...

PSA: Anyone heard of Cavour? They’re an affiliate here. Like Spier and Mackay, but a bit pricier because most of their wares are made in Italy. They’ve got some gorgeous jackets and suits with the usual SF features: spalla camicia, soft shoulders, wide lapels etc. Good fabric too: VBC, Loro Piana etc. These usually retail for about $710 - $890 USD, but they’re having a 30% sale now, which is quite substantial.

You’re welcome ?

Hadn’t until i saw them mentioned on EG thread, was just perusing their site, bought some great cashmere and cashmere/wool sweaters and a loro piana check coat.
Definitely a site i will maintain in favourites.

Are Gurkha shorts the new Cargo shorts? Any recommendations on brands. I used to own some ex Oz Army Bombay Bloomers. But sadly there are no military surplus stores anymore or have gone online?

And unlike S&M: they ship by DHL, shipping is not extortionate (in fact free over a certain limit), and return shipping is also free.
