It looks like MJ's designers have been scouring Styleforum and Pitti Uomo. Their new Safari jacket is a welcome surprise.

It looks like they've taken the Eidos Ragosta and give it the Aussie-mall brand treatment. Make the lapels/collars thinner, shortened & slimmed it down, then fit a size-to-small jacket onto a model wearing low rise pants.

A step in the right direction, at least! Also happy to see more trousers/pants with side-adjustors in their new collection.

"he went out to deal with piglets who were scouring"
From 3 years ago. There's your problem.

Interesting to look at their current (next year?) offering. Its surprising they have still stuck with the too tight, too short look. Most of their jackets are drop 8 - a bit severe and over hopeful with post C19 body shapes. I would have thought that "footballer who usually only wears shorts (and a coke drip from nose) but in new suit for court appearance " look was on its way out. I often think "Well maybe these retailers have their finger on the pulse and I'm wrong" (for once). But I do think they the average bloke is also going to be moving away from that look. Its hard to predict the future and clearly like all times - post C19 is going to be radically different but at the same time pretty much like it was before. The trick is to guess what will be the same and what will be different.

Still I'd suggest a looser more drapey look with wider trousers, looser longer jackets and a relaxed but dressed up feel would be a mid range way to go. No one expects MJ Bale to be Rick Owens but the middle slightly out of touch market is a (the hardest??) hard one and possible the most likely to disappear.

Gents, mundane question which I’m sure has been asked countless times:
any recos for decent trailer in Syd? I get suits from Remy/pj so generally don’t need but have a couple of quality items I need to get fitted and hoping to avoid major f ups.

thanks kindly

I first noticed it when walking past an MJ Bale store at lunchtime a few weeks ago. I thought that it looked nice but, as expected, it's too shrunken, particularly in length.

I know at least one bespoke/MTM outfit uses Margaret’s alterations in the trust building. Im currently trying out Precision Alterations in Balmain and it seems quite promising

I find buying shoes online a bit hit and miss. I prefer the personal touch of having expert shoe fitters assist me is the best way. Its also a good idea to take along a friend or two for an opinion and to take notes.
