I have a P Johnson in a fine oxford cloth, button down. The collar roll is sensational.

Most silk covered buttons has that rental feeling to me, especially on a cream dj. Which is ironic me saying that as my three other djs have silk covered buttons.

I like their roll - just not as much as I like Ascot Chang's
I’ve stopped buying clothes, including bespoke commissions. I might just get one more suit from Bijan before he retires in a year or two and that’ll be the last stop for my wardrobe for a good while.

I've been keeping my eye out for second hand BB, but wasn't aware of the distinction between the Malaysian and US made stuff. I prefer unlined for BD collar so thanks for the tip!

Very common to see used BB non-iron OCBD shirts in op shops, if that's you're thing,

Guys I know a few of you are old Japan hands. I'm going to be in Tokyo for one evening on Feb 5th (a Wednesday) and would like to try some Kaiseki cuisine. I thought I had a booking at Ishikawa Kagurazaka, but sometime after I booked it I received a "booking declined" email. Dang.

Money no object, just want the best. Happy to sit at a bar and watch them prepare the food.

Any recommendations?

It's not unusual for high end places to be booked out well in advance, or even require a personal introduction before you are allowed to eat there e.g. Kyoaji in Tokyo. One of the few places in the world where they actually don't want your money.

Try Matsukawa or Restaurant Den. Though two weeks out is cutting it close, you might get lucky.

Wow - it's not easy to book any of these places. Either their websites are only in Japanese, or they are closed on Wednesdays, or online booking is through a third party that charges 7000 yen extra... Matsukawa is by introduction only.

Maybe I won't bother. Just go into some random place. It's a shame though.

If money is no object, then consider that 7000 yen, the cost of getting a reservation.
