One of the Dads from Neighbours. Damned if I can remember his name.

Anyone making their annual donation to TAB Corp today?

RE the Melbourne Cup. Quick visit to the local TAB. Mrs GF picked the winner and my nag came second.

Melbourne cup Trivia Mrs GF brother who was at that stage high up the food chain in DFAT. Won big time in 1993 with Irish nag Vintage Crop. Richard Carleton who knew him broadcast him live from the Journos club that night on A Current Affair heavily inebriated saying ‘Canberra’s just a sheltered workshop for public servants.’

Management was not impressed. Actually was the most astute observation he ever made.

Amaya, i'm not sure they outsource it. From what i hear, he does the cutting and it is his sons that make the suit. Could be wrong. You can walk up the street and get a suit done by Bijan. I have one of his. The entire garment is an artwork.

I've absolutely no idea whether JH Cutler outsources some of the work on its bespoke suits or not.

However, outsourcing doesn't necessarily lead to a poor-quality product. A number of well-known bespoke tailoring firms in the UK - including some on Savile Row - outsource some of the work to independent contractors who specialise in particular garments such as trousers or vests.

Has anyone tried Pascalis Bespoke Tailoring in the Sydney CBD? I am looking into getting a bespoke suit (or a higher quality made to measure suit) and do not have the cash for JH Cutler or Bijan - they are $7k to $8k the last time I checked.

Also interested in opinions on Adamo Marrone and Sam Disano if they are still around.

I seem to recall @taffy was once apprenticed to Adamo. He may know if things are still operational there in Leichardt?

Of course, @taffy may well be happy to make you a suit himself. You could always reach out.

Have members who got on board with suits/jackets from him received the finished articles? If so, thoughts?

He is retired, he only makes for old clients that he likes.
i'm not doing any more tailoring for people, I'm way too busy these days with my work
It'll take a while to finish the jackets, I can't prioritize it as I'm doing these for free. My current boss is about to shut down his shop, I'm busier these days looking for work etc..

Sorry to hear that, @taffy. Best of luck finding suitable work.

Most of the non-peacock's are there for serious business, no time to hang around and sit on a wall ;)

I have Bailey Nelson and TBD eyewear. TBD is a higher quality but you pay for it, although cheaper than Oliver Peoples or Cutler and Gross.
