So about a week or two ago i posted about looking for interview suits and well i think ive came to a decision. Now im suck trying to figure out what size to order. I spoke to ian at shopthefinest and he seemed like a genuine person with fair prices. Im not to stoked with his exchange/store credit return policy but im sure he will work with me on that. I went to the tailor and got measured. Im 6'2" 180 lbs with a athletic build. My chest measures at 40.5" and my over arm is 49" and my waist is a little under 33". So does anyone know about what size i should order. Im pretty partial to this attolini suit.

There is also another grey suit that i like.

But my question is whether i need a 42 or 40? so anyone with similar measurements or there experience with these brands would be helpful. Finding suits that fit is hard for me for some odd reason. Every suit fits different. Just yesterday i tried on a scorsese from hugo boss and i wore a 40L but in the rossilini i wear a 42R. So i know a good tailor can work wonders but there is no point in making him start out a few miles(inces) behind the pack. thanks john

There are also a couple of navy suits that im looking at
This is my first choice

Second:

and third:

So i guess what size does anyone here think i should go with? Also are there any other measurements i should get from my Tailor that would help in this decision? Thanks John

Go for a 40L. I'm 6' 1.5" with a 39" chest and a 32" waist. The length on a 40L is perfect for me but the upper body is just too roomy. (I often end up ordering a MTM 39L.) Also, assuming you don't have ridiculously long legs (and a short upper body) I'm positive those 40R (with a jacket length of 31" or less) will be too short for you. You will likely need a jacket with a length of 32".

Are you anywhere where you could try some pieces from the labels on in person?

You could try on some Isaia at a local Neimans and/or Saks.
I think the midnight Navy is best for an interview.

I love Charcoal, but Navy is the classic Interview suit.

Sounds like you are about the same size as Ian. I would discuss the size issue with him... he is very helpful.

My guess is that you need either 38 or 40US. 42 is too big for you

I agree that US 42 is too large for you. But I would guess that a 40 or 41would be right (probably in a long).

Remember that you are buying Italian goods and they don't make a 40 or a 42. They make a 50 (US 40) or 52 (US 41). Unfortunately many sellers will mistakenly call a 52 a US 42. It isn't, it is a US 41. Probably perfect for a 40.5 inch chest.

Also Isaia is a slim cut. So the e52L is really a 40.5 rather than a 41 in US sizing. I have a 42 inch chest and wear a e54L in Isaia.

So I would guess you would be a e52L. Now Isaia is a particularly long coat. So get the length measurement down the back seam and check it out against what you want. I find e54L Isaia's are 35 inches down the seam. So I will wear a e54R many timesrather than a e54L. I have both.

The red bamboo in the bamboo jacket thread is an Isaia e54L. The yellow bamboo Correale is an e54R. Both fit me, they just fit me differently.

Some of the other brands Ian carries are also slim cut. Ask him about sizing. But if he is calling a e52 a US 42 do take his sizing recommendations with a bit of a grain of salt. And I do recall he does fall in that grouping.
