I like matadorpoeta's linen suit suggestion, though a cotton shirt would be better. Still skip the tie.

And I'd also rather go prepster than fast-food fry preparer.

The bride took my advice and decided to go with suits. She bought us all fused, khaki, cotton/poly blend two buttons with double pleated trousers.

The lesson - be careful what you wish for.

Why does everyone have to match?
The $64,000 question. Americans are obsessed with matching for some reason. English weddings, in which everyone wears the same basic thing (e.g., morning coat) but with variatons from man to man, look much more elegant to me.
