I am in need of a new pair of shoes. Currently, I own a pair of Roos that I pretty much wear everywhere. I want a pair of shoes that looks casual, but they still must be athletic since I do not own a car and get around on bike or foot. I've been happy with this pair of Roos (pictured below) which serve my purpose well, and thought about getting another pair of a different style. Do any of you have some specific recommendations? I wear denim 99% of the time and would prefer a darker shoe.

cup, there are a lot of sneaker/tennis shoe threads here, if you search you can come up with quite a lot--this is an extensive sneaker thread, with a lot of pictures (some dead).

Those roos probably gave you a bare minimum of performance, relatively. Almost any athletic-styled shoe, with the possible exception of chucks, thin-soled models like the Puma speed-cat and some Onitsuka tigers, will give you at least as much support and cushioning. If you like the style of the roos, New Balance is not a bad bet at all. Classicsportsshoes has a few nifty models up right now.

New Balance 990 series. They're comfortable, functionally stylish and practically indestructable.

I like Onitsuka Tiger, Le Coq Sportif, and Puma.
Never tried the classic New Balances but I've been seeing them around lately so I'll keep that in mind.
