With permission from the moderators, I'm posting a job listing for a assistant buyer position in men's tailored clothing. What kind of strong "quantitative" background are you expecting? Engineering/math background strong or, social science/business school strong
this part also struck me as weird. I'm nearly certain that the person you seek won't have a strong "quantitative" background the way most people use that term. indeed, that would be someone with a stats background or something like that and whose spends a good portion of their whole day crunching #'s. I think you're probably looking at someone who could manage their way through B school fine, which is basically "proficiency with Excel and intelligent"

I'd be very happy to do this if I actually lived in the US, never mind NYC. A shame

    Wait, you smell that?
You forgot to include that the ideal candidate should have proficiency in fetching coffee, picking up dry cleaning and shining shoes.

Sounds like it's just phonework and data entry. How many trips to Milan each year? What's the discount at that level? Do Buyers wear nice clothes all the time?

Sounds like a great position. If I lived in NYC or could relocate there, I'd apply.
