It's going well. Started a little later than planned, but everyone worked through the night and is still working, but it's looking very good for about noon today, Saturday.

jml90 -- you may just be psychic! (but I bet you knew I was going to say that!).

But don't uncross any fingers yet!

Nah, I heard they're installing an anti-troll device on the trad forum!

But that would leave just five or six posters there!

j/k -- I enjoy the trad forum. Looking forward to the upgrade!

I enjoy the trad clothing threads, not so keen on all that fogey/trad lifestyle stuff though.

I enjoy reading the trad forum as well even tho it's mostly stuff I can't relate with. I think that Miles Away and Horace on FNB have the best/most accurate take on what the ivy/trad style is, which is "miles away" from the AAAC definition of trad. I think it's tragic their knowledge is limited to a forum that only has about 5 regularly active posters. Horace's threads on vintage ivy clothing ads from the 50s were awesome.

Agreed, Miles and Horace have an accurate take on the history of ivy and its influences other styles and conversely the influence of Italian fashion on the ivy style. I may be wrong, but don't think most of AAAC trads are really interested in this aspect of things, just the UK and Italian ivy league guys perhaps......one or two of them have also posted on FNB.

I also prefer the discussions there about the clothing. I don't care for it when it gets too silly like most trad dog, most trad music, etc.

Horace has been very knowledgeable about the clothes and has posted some interesting trad ads from the past. That's the Horace I first encountered on these sites. As for the other guy Miles or Russell Street or whatever he calls himself, I kind of thought he was a troll. He may be knowledgeable, but how one imparts that knowledge is often as important as the knowledge itself.

I just wish FNB and Andy would make peace. It was really much more enjoyable when everyone posted together. I really dislike the anti-Andy comments on FNB. They are really childish.

Good News!! J will not have to host the Ask Andy Forums after all [IMG]

We have a new upgraded (bigger, better, faster) Forum software which brings Ask Andy into the 21st Century (well maybe the 20th for some of us)!

We're up and running. If you are a member look for a new password in your e-mail. We could not migrate any user passwords so for you to be able to log into the new forum, you'll need and receive a new password via e-mail. Sorry for that inconvenience.

Plus it's a new URL so your old bookmarks will not work:

    http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/forum/index.php

Thanks for allowing me to post this info here!

    Andy

Yup, which is why I quit going there. Too bad, because there's a lot of knowledge and style over there. Maybe with time they'll mature.

    Guys,

Let's not discuss inter-forum politics on SF, okay? It's never ended well, never. If you must, discuss it over PM with other interested parties.

    Fok. (Holder of Court, apparently.)

I requested my new password via the link on my AAAC email yeterday and it never came. Something similar happened when I registered. I don't know if it's Hotmail that's causing it or the forum software.
