Epaulettes and military pockets are not very formal.

Not a fan of pink ties either, personally. Not cause it's a "queer" color, just too loud for my tastes.

Thank you, SoCal. I thought I would be branded as clueless if I said the same thing.

It's John Bartlett wearing one of his own designs which are Indian Military inspired. He draws a lot on his 2 year departure from fashion a few years ago that he sent in a monastery.

I dig the look of the jacket. I think that the jacket paired denim would be a decent "streetwear and denim" combo.

I don't personally like it because i'm a classicist...
I have gay friends and I would not follow their tips for my wardrobe...

Bartlett's combo is fine. It's surprising and particular to him.

He always did a lot of military-inspired stuff. I still have one of his 'bondage sweaters' from the 90s.

Only problem in his pic is that the sleeve is too long, so he shows no cuff.

It's a buttondown collar. Style, point length and roll are all classic American isht. You're Canadian, which means you hate our Freedoms.

I like the jacket. It's inappropriate for what appears to be a formal occasion, but it's still nice.
