Anyone here have experience with effector and if so are they comparable in quality to JMM?

I obviously am, but half frames are also objectively not great.

The Dita clubmaster style (or the thom browne variants also made by dita) are a thousand times better.

Go to Veo optics in the mission and try them on (not sure who carries dita in the south bay/peninsula)

Are these half frames made by effector “trash”?

I'm sure those are fine. Iirc, this comment was directed at some truly awful Midwestern tech nerd half frames, not clubmaster style frames.

Whatever it is, you really have to make sure they fit your eyes. Looks like those are going to be a bit more forgiving since they have adjustable nose pieces, but still.

Effector is well made. Similar to JMM? I would say so. They are very robust and sturdy. High quality Japanese frames.
Cool. I’m looking into Effector and Native Sons. Any other brand similar that’s worth mentioning?

Are dita and cutler and gross of the same quality?

Effector and Native Sons are independent brands. Some other independent brands that are made in Japanese would be Lunetterie Generale, Eyevan, 999.9, and Yuchi Toyama to list a few.

Dita and C&G are whatever, in my opinion. Dita is not what it used to be and their internal customer service is trash (in my experience).

@CityConnection Can you advise on sizing? I would like to order a pair of Anglo American 406. The bridge width is 21mm. All my previous glasses have bridge width of 18mm. Will this work or would I be best served to find a different frame. Also my current glasses are 51mm lens width and I think they look a little too wide. Should I go with a size 47? How exactly does lens width affect fit?

Thanks

Any alternatives to JMM's Loewy out there? I've tried them on and really like them, but I didn't pull the trigger and now they're backordered everywhere.

It depends on the shape of your nose and the width of it. Keep in mind that if the plastic bridge doesn’t fit well, you can always get metal nose pad implants. The shape of the bridges will also determine whether it will fit or not.

This probably doesn’t help you much but it’s like asking if a medium in one brand will be like a slim fit large in another brand.
