1. Welcome to the new Styleforum!

We hope you’re as excited as we are to hang out in the new place. There are more new features that we’ll announce in the near future, but for now we hope you’ll enjoy the new site.

We are currently fine-tuning the forum for your browsing pleasure, so bear with any lingering dust as we work to make Styleforum even more awesome than it was.

Right now the site is slow because we are fixing all the images from the past 4 months. Many of you noticed that these were missing, and we are fixing that problem now. Unfortunately, it is taking up a lot of resources and causing the site to be slow.

Oh, and don’t forget to head over to the Styleforum Journal, because we’re giving away two pairs of Carmina shoes to celebrate our move!

Please address any questions about using the new forum to support@styleforum.net

    Cheers,

    The Styleforum Team

In general does a 36R have the same length as a 38S?

    No, 38S is shorter

Also, If I were you I would look into the Allen Edmonds Calhoun boot. JCrew shoe quality is below average at best. Yea you might be getting a good deal on them, but in a few months when they wear like shit, you'll wish you had spent a few more bucks for a much better boot.

The Calhoun is on the Allen Edmonds site, it retails for around $200 but can be had on Ebay for half that if you can find it. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it retail though, the little extra investment is well worth it in the long run.

Thanks for the note! Just purchased a pair of Allen Edmonds Calhoun for less $100.

Found this old jacket that used to belong to my father.
Can I use it, or does it look bad?

overall looks ok, little tight here and there. Is it ventless? I'd say if you're normally well dressed and can properly coordinate it then put it in. If it's your only sportscoat then it might look like you're just wearing hand me downs... it clearly looks "older"/vintage (heavy shoulder pads, wide lapels, ventless, etc) but if you can wear it to look like a vintage style without making it just plain old then rock it. otherwise it looks like around my size [IMG]

ok, ok, please avoid the inclination to tell me I'm an idiot...
so let's say I bought some Swarovski Christal Buttons... they're square, black/grey on one side, clear on the other, sort of like pic below... I was thinking ot put them on a white shirt and go out to the bars, any other suggestion of what to do with these? is there hope?

Have plastic heel taps put on them so you don't have to worry about it.

I might be getting a really nice pair of bally driving mocs, they are truely gorgeous, and i think that they look formal enough as to wear them in most tie required functions. My question is, with shoes like this should i wear socks? I'm dead serious when I say that I never wear socks. Only for track do I wear them. Will freefooting in the shoes ruin them like my sperrys that i replace each year?
