Pictures, Achilles. Give us pictures.
Don't like the contrasting stitching, extra details especially string thing on back, and the heel is too tall. I'm looking for the most simple, plain design possible
How 'bout Aldens?
For the more structured version:
Question: Is there any chance in hell I can get my hands on a pair of those beautiful, beautiful "buckshot brogues"?
What do you guys think of the new Neumok from Allen Edmonds? Basically a funkified version of the McTavish. Some interesting colors.
I'm half considering them in blue, but how well could one really incorporate that color/style of shoe into a slightly-modern-yet-classic dress-casual wardrobe?
Custom shirts are probably the best option.
There are many websites that do fast-food bespoke decently well.
They are certainly more expensive than store bought shirts, but will solve the problem for you.
American fashion and buying choices are too often decided by the big-box retailers that dominate our lives and in a way control.
They will never highlight subtleties because then they would have to store more sizes and variety, not so good for business.
Hence, American fashion has never evolved to being visibly refined. The focus has always been on comfort and utility.
Is a John Smedley merino sweater worth $190? Do they ever have sales? I could get 3 Jcrew sweaters for that amount.
I agree with the first part. It's probably because the jacket is usually bought off the rack without any tailor alterations afterwards. People tend to assume that is it's their size on the label - it's a perfect fit.
My personal experience with Europe has shown me that for the price you would pay for one "designer name" suit off the rack - you can go to the old guy in the small shop and get 2 suits tailored to perfection, i.e. in America is cheaper to buy off the rack, while in Europe is cheaper to have it tailored. Or at least that's how it was 10 or so years ago, maybe things have changed?
Who makes these shoes?
At that retail I would think Alden.
500+ for AE shoes seems crazy, but the 260-10% seems fairly reasonable. Guess I'll just see how they fit/look in person.
The borrelli shirt I bought from yoox has a tag that reads "London Exclusive" Nowhere do I see a mention of Borrelli. Is this some diffusion line?
It was this shirt.... http://www.yoox.com/item/YOOX/BORRE...y/3FD17CD7/rr/1/cod10/38217276HS/sts/sr_men80
P.S. No gussets
Edit: It also does not say where it was made...
