Really? Is this so bad? I Mostly browse on swd, but I really can't see anything terribly wrong with this:

Wow, that's even more hideous than I expected. A small pin-dot may have looked okay in a more fashionable club-wear kinda way, but those large polka-dots just look positively clown-like.

Where and when do you think it would be appropriate to wear this?

Mostly for casual occasions with some kind of cardigan.

I think it would be very appropriate to wear to the circus, the zoo, birthday parties for small children, political fundraisers, etc.

Well, you live and you learn. Back to lurking, I guess. I was aware it would be risky with polka dots, but not that it would be this bad.

I am glad you took the advice well, a lot of posters would have lashed out about how wrong everyone else was

I agree with the above sentiments, I would make sure the dots stay on a tie or PS (never both)

What's the quality of jcrew's cashmere scarves?

I need to order a scarf online for my wife, so I don't have the chance to feel and compare.

Hey, thanks for the response. Actually I'm really not a fan of black ties either, are there any other colors you think would look good?

Khaki chinos, beeswax Clark's desert boots...what kind of shirt and tie would be good with this? I was thinking of some kind of checkered white shirt, but don't know about the tie.

And, is khaki fine to wear during colder months like these or does it look too summer-y?

I would do a light blue oxford cloth button down shirt. Or maybe a bengal striped oxford cloth button down shirt. Sport coats would look ok with this over it all as well. I wouldn't wear a tie with this ensemble, but if you do I would go for something in the olive family. Maybe an olive shatung, or wool tie.

I wouldn't be wearing anything over the shirt. What kind of shirt would work well if I wanted to wear a tie though? And with what kind of tie?

    Thank you!

don't wear a tie if you aren't going to be wearing anything on top of the shirt
