i just hate not being able to check something out in person first... at least to get a sense of what a certain brand/cut/fabric/etc. is like

I hear ya...but on the other hand, it's just a strip of leather :)

Loake, probably made in India or some such.

Dayum that's a pretty good deal then. The black version is likely corrected grain, but suede is suede and they're welted. OP, go with those.

Hey guys, I posted this on formalwear p0rn but haven't got a response...

I'm going to be in a black-tie optional gala this coming Saturday that my company is sponsoring. Can I wear my white dinner jacket even after Labor Day?

I don't have a proper tux so another option would be my dark navy blue SB peak.

What is a good price for a pair of vintage used but in good condition Allen Edmonds Park Avenues on eBay?

Old wives tales about holidays affecting colors should be forgotten. Especially with formal wear. Because it is a company event, your standing in the company should have more of an impact on what you wear IMO. If I were management I would be fine wearing a white or blue jacket. However, especially in conservative settings, wearing anything aside from a black tux can look a bit brash and affected. However, since neither are black I'd say white is a more conservative choice. (Sorry to all those in England who maintain a gentleman never wears a white coat to a black tie affair.)

I was just wondering what type of shoe this is. For what occasions is it usually being worn? I'm considering to wear it casual under jeans but I'm doubting if it is proper.
Does the buckle on the shoe have a specific meaning?

I'm wondering for what occasions this shoe it is meant for to be worn? I'm considering to buy it to wear it casual.
Also, does the buckle and/or suede on the shoe have a specific meaning?

I have heard that wearing a matching pocket square and tie are very tacky. I have seen combinations that look nice. Any thoughts and/or examples of what to and what not to wear in regards to pocket squares and ties?

Thank you for the link. What a wonderful array of examples. It seems to be very safe to go white. Any opinions on matching with a tie?
