long time lurker, 1st time poster here. When looking for suits/blazers offered in the B&S section (or Ebay), how much room do I--or my tailor--have to work with, specifically across the shoulders? I'm a slender guy & measure 18.75 from shoulder-to-shoulder on all 3 of my Canali suits. Would a skilled tailor be able to let out fabric in the back of a jacket that's 18.0 or 18.25? Or is that really too much of an adjustment adversely affecting the position of the armholes? Thanks for any tips or info [IMG]
the only place there "may" be any cloth available is at the center back seam. how much good that will do you i dont know, but it does not seem likely. go with a size that feels right in the shoulders to begin with.

Figured it might be time for this... Perhaps a pin? Just to cut down on all the clutter and new members jumping in for one question
Mods - edit/delete as you wish, just trying to help. This seems quite useful in SW&D

    My Quick Questions:
What does the term "drop" mean?
Are there rules for matching socks? do they go with shoe color, pants color, etc?

When do you know you need an athletic fit

ran across this for a pair of pants:

    Waist:\t30.00"\t(2.50" to let out)(15.00" flat)
    Inseam:\t34.50"\t(0.00" to let out)(unhemmed)
Leg Opening:\t9.00"\t(laid flat, measured across cuff)
Thigh:\t12.75"\t(laid flat, seam below zipper across leg)
Front Rise:\t9.50"\t(front waist to seam below zipper)
Back Rise:\t15.25"\t(rear waist to seam below zipper)

is it me, or is the front rise a bit low compared to the proportion of the pants?

Most of mine are only 10"-10.5", so 9.5" is a bit lower than average but not by much...

    I have a question:
I've been looking around the internet and men's stores like Joseph Bank's, etc. and I can't find any reasonably priced round collar shirts. Where can one find a round collar shirt for under $75?

The armholes will be almost impossible to alter effectively (to my knowledge). If they were made to measure and not made to your specifications then send them back.

I got them about 18 months ago as a gift and just ended up never wearing them. I'm moving and deciding whether anything can be done to them or not. If not, I'm giving them to Good Will.

Do you mean a club collar? You could try getting your shirts made to measure, ModernTailor for example have an option for a rounded/club collar.

Thoughts on this shoe for a semi casual work environment? ( button down collared shirts + dress pants, no tie or suit required) http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/magnanni...rigin=category [IMG] Or, does this seem to be more of a casual / jeans shoe? For $200, doesn't look bad.

I think the style would definitely work. I would certaintly try to find a deal on a better quality shoe, however.

How is Magnanni quality? I've heard a few people recommend them, but my guess is they aren't as durable as AE/Alden/etc.

My issue is that I'm not sure I want to dive into wingtips just yet as they feel a little too "fancy" to me. The apron style here seemed to add a little something on top of a PTB.

Ok, I'm officially open for MC business.

i am looking for a source of plain loopwheeled tee-shirts in larger sizes than usually available - my jacket size is 46-47 long.

The best fit (and quality) was a XXL made for Nike LW tee-shirt that has minimal text on the front.

My goal here is to have 3 or 4 great tee-shirts instead of a hamper full of junk. I only wear tee-shirts on the weekends.

I bought a new navy linen suit for a summer wedding that I am planning on wearing with a pair of tan and canvas BB spectators. Here's my question: should the pants be cuffed or not? They're flat fronted.

Robert Barakett @ Nordstrom. A little on the expensive side, BUT very nice hand.

Are you talking about a club-collar shirt or a mandarin-collar (aka banded-collar) shirt? You may want to try Eddie Bauer. Cotton and linen. Free shipping. And not soaked in anti-wrinkle poison. Shirt runs large, so size down if you want a fitter look, but I don't think you can get uber slim. EB often has some type of promo coupon for further savings. Though it has the contemporary designs, I'm not a fan of J Crew shirts as the material and construction aren't deserving of the price. But you can get 30% off frequently enough. I wouldn't be surprised to find the banded-collar shirt at a cheaper retailer like Old Navy or Target for less than $30. BTW, RL has three club-collar shirts on sale.

I can't really see how it would be possible at all.

Is it ok to wear a tweed or flannel dark gray SC in the office to beat the air conditioning? Thing is, here in Singapore, almost no one ever wear a jacket or SC because its too hot.

But i don't want to look like all the others wearing a hoodie/trackjacet/windbreaker etc. Is it appropriate though because I will be better dressed than my bosses? [IMG]

This is such a dumb question that I'm almost embarrassed. I just had a MTM grey suit made (my only other being charcoal) and wanted another pair of non-black shoes. I opt'ed for the Allen Edmonds Clifton in Walnut. [IMG] The suit is a medium-gray. About this: [IMG] So...what kind of belt can I wear with this? I've always taken to the shoes matching belt rule and I'm not sure if I can find a belt as light as the Clifton's. Should I just try to find something close, or does it even matter that much with a suit? With the jacket closed I can't see it being an issue as much, but when it's open the belt is visible. Save me SF.
