It's not that low, but not has high as the current "trend", thus it does look a bit dated. A low notch that points sideway is called fishmouth by some author.
Thanks a lot for the reply.
I'm considering if I should let it go since it looks dated.[IMG]

What do I wear with a light orange sweater? It was a J. Crew impulse buy. It's a light-weight v-neck in "heather persimmon," which looks slightly ligher than this (from eBay) in person:

I tried a navy tweed sportcoat, but it just looked "contrived," for lack of a better word...

You could try (light to mid-) grey flannel or tweed, if you have any.

Let it go unless you are a boring history professor aged 50 or older. It screams blandness to me, absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Also, any good recomendations for a classic buck saddle shoe? Which brands should I look out for?

Is it acceptable to wear a glen plaid tie for business or is it just a wedding thing?

You can wear it for any occasions. And I don't see why it is a wedding tie.

No need to hate on history professors! There are a few very stylish ones who read this forum regular FWIW.

I think it looks quite nice. It's an informal cloth so I don't think the "dated" aspect of it is a killer. Think "vintage country gentleman" and see if that improves it. [IMG]

    Hi there,

Am researching a potential purchase and needed an opinion.

This photo is from a Chester Barrie era RLPL overcoat.

Does anyone know if Chester Barrie RLPL ever used European sizing tags? Worried I may get a coat that I get lost in otherwise.

    Many thanks.

137 cm = 54 inches, so yeah, that seems to be European size.

    Hi everyone,

I had a question regarding the care instructions of flannel shirts with suede elbow patches. I bought a number of BB and RL Polo shirts in this style. So far, I've only worn and washed one of the RL shirts per the washing instructions (cold wash separately). Unfortunately, the suppleness of the suede patches has diminished markedly and they now appear stiff and feel coarse to the touch.

I contacted RL Customer Service who weren't very helpful: "Due to to the extensive variety of Ralph Lauren merchandise on the market, we are unable to provide fabric care suggestions" followed by a generic "[w]e look forward to providing you with the legendary service you have come to expect from Ralph Lauren".

Does anyone have any suggestions for either this shirt or the other ones which are yet to be laundered? I've been an avid reader of Style Forum for some time, but never made a post before. Also, I'll be putting up some shirts (sizes 39 - 41) and ties by Australian label Herringbone Sydney (many of them from before their takeover by Van Laack) soon in the selling section of the forum. PM me if you're interested and I can send you a direct link.

    Thanks!
